We spent 5 days at the Ritz Carlton Tahoe during the 4th July break and enjoyed every minute of it. The staff are top notch. People we met once (eg bell hops) would greet us by name just passing in the corridor days later and that was consistent across all the staff members. The spa was great and they followed up with a hand written note delivered to the room after treatments. The rooms were comfortable and looked new. The resort is dog friendly and they have a "Yappy Hour" on Fridays with half priced drinks and food items. Dogs turn out to be a great social catalyst and ice breakers.

A great relaxing environment to use a base to explore Tahoe.

Room Tip: Prefer the Mountain side but most are nice.

Although the winter snow cover cannot be beat, the summer time views of the mountains and forest were a beautiful sight. The staff were consistantly available and eager to please. We enjoyed the pool, hot tub and fireplaces. We recommend a stay here to get away from the hustle and bustle - while being a short tram ride down into the Village if you need excitement.

Room Tip: All rooms have good views.

Everything about this hotel was perfect. We stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. Planning on doing many outdoor things, hiking, kayaking, etc. However, Mother had other plans... It snowed everyday except one. We were "forced" to spend our days at their beautiful spa. Relaxing, having lunch, taking fitness classes, sitting near the fire outside while having cocktails-it was perfect. Sometimes things don't go as planned, but they couldn't be better. This was one of those times. I would never stay anywhere else in Tahoe again.

Room Tip: Treat yourself and upgrade to a mountain view suite. You won't regret it.

We paid for club lounge and it was worth it! The lounge staff was fabulous, especially Julie and Rogelio! the food was excellent, they accommodated our special dietary needs perfectly. They shared history of the area and hotel and were delightful. The property is about as perfect as hotels get - beautiful and top quality. Spa was outstanding with private adult pool overlooking mountains - we spent hours there. Costly, sure, but worth the memory. Thanks Ritz, we will be back for sure!

I know one doesn't expect a bargain when staying at the Ritz but I didn't expect to get charged an extra $25 a day for a resort fee and $35 for valet (there's no choice on where to park and gondola was not operating). The room was nice but small, great beds, loved the fireplace. Awesome main seating area, like a log cabin on steroids. The spa is nice. Fabulous service everywhere from the front door, reception, the lounge, spa, and restaurant. Great dinner at Manzanita - loved the bartender and the sommelier. Breakfast was mediocre and my friend's eggs were burnt. Nice wine list and they make an excellent hot toddy. Would I go back? Maybe.

Went for a romantic getaway. The hotel seemed lovely driving up to it BUT the rooms were more holiday inn than ritz quality. They were really rather pedestrian. The pool was small. There were crying children all around. It was nothing to write home about. Aside from the "resort fee" there was an additional parking fee (25 for the resort fee which lots of hotels in California have and 35 for parking fee). Other than a small pool and a blah gym there was not much in the way of amenities. It was also far from the lake.

Wow..... We felt like we had this beautiful property to ourselves. This is a wonderful mountain resort with sweeping views, many on site activities and as always impeccable service. Take a short tram ride down the mountain to Northstar for shops, restaraunts, entertainment and more activities. There is as much or as little to do as you would like. Take the team back to the resort to enjoy the pool, many firepits or a drink in the Livingroom Lounge( be sure to have Joe or Ben make you a margarita.... Theirs are the best)
