Starts out fairly steep over rocks and boulders with some uneven footing. The climb to the peaks is a steady uphill, but not to strenuous. The good news is the return is pretty much all downhill and very easy. Even the rocky area near bottom of hike is manageable. The views from the summits are stupendous! The walk down is on a wonderful trail full of wildflowers in bloom of many colorful varieties. This hike is a gem!

The entire trail was not open when we were there; there was too much snow and no one knew exactly where the trail went. We took it up to Donner Peak, which is a small side junket you can make off the main trail. The whole trail offers the most amazing views and isn't too hard. Would strongly recommend it.

Happened upon this trail while looking for the China wall/train tunnels. Very nice hike - only a couple of hours. Enjoyed the rocky area - the forest. Some sun and shade. Temp was crazy warm with bright sunshine.
Definitely recommend for a quick hit with some very nice views of the area.

Great hike, about 5 miles round trip. Fantastic views. Wildflowers are best in July-August after the snow is gone. Not a steep trail. Good for family and dogs. some sun some forest. i prefer to go counterclockwise in the loop trail.

Other then the rocky start of the trail (PCT) the over all hike is a good medium level hike, with spectacular vistas and some history along the way. Bring water, good hiking shoes ( unless your a trail runner), and a camera.
