I honestly don’t know where to start. We loved the entire set up and it was very clean and in order for our arrival. The owners made a lot of good recommendations for places to go see, shop, and hike. We woke up the first morning to find a big bull elk right outside our bedroom French doors (super exciting for my wife). We saw a ton of elk while staying here both at the house and on the road. We also ran into a bear on a trail which was exciting. Luckily we were paying attention and we went our separate ways. We saw a tone of wildlife in general and some breathtaking trees on our hikes. Pictures do them no justice. I had been to California two previous times (LA & SD) and had resigned myself to never returning because of bad experiences with those trips. This time we flew into SF (my new fav big city) and spend three days there. We rented a convertible and drove up the coastal highway till we arrived at Trinidad. What an amazing drive! Trinidad is a tiny postcard picture town with very friendly folks running the shops. The general store that is north of the cabin (can’t remember the name) is run by a sweet older woman who was also very helpful. We had an adventure for sure and we will be back!
Just spent 4 glorious nights in this cozy mountain retreat. It is 1 mile from 101 but it is worlds apart. Quiet & secluded, it is perfect for relaxing. The wood-burning stoves provide more than enough heat, beds are amazingly comfortable, kitchen adequate, and more than enough room for everybody!! We did many hikes, saw elk herds, and went on the Tall Trees Grove trail - a strenuous trail, but not to be missed!
