Everything was wonderful, from the food to the service! I even took a recipe home with me it was that good. Jason is a wonderful host and makes you feel right at home. The beds are to die for comfortable and the view is outstanding from every room! Can't wait to go back again!

We stayed in the "Trinity Alps" room, which has its own access stairs, and an amazing view over the harbour. The room was large and comfortable, with excellent quality linens, large towels, a huge, comfy bed and lots of natural light from the many windows. A really lovely place.

The innkeepers had obviously made a big effort to furnish and equip the room in a unique and comfortable way, with great attention to detail, right down to providing an ipod stereo (into which a guest could just pop their own ipod) - great idea.

The breakfasts were tasty, but we were slightly surprised that it was served at a specific time - 08.30, which is early if you're on holiday and it's a Sunday! - rather than during a range, as at most other B&Bs (e.g. from 8-9 or whatever), and the only choice available was tea/coffee. This meant that all guests sit down together around one table, and food doesn't get served until everyone's there. This made it feel slightly stiff and formal, which is at odds with the otherwise relaxed atmosphere of the place, and is a policy I'd urge the innkeepers to reconsider. On our second morning we were tempted to opt out of breakfast and go to the diner across the street so we could relax and breakfast at our own pace.

That being said, this inn was a lovely, restful place to stay in Northern California, and the views and comfortable bed were worth it.

I bought the Inn a year ago and chucked all but the breakfast at 8:30 rule - I don't like rules myself. I was told, and now have experience to prove, that it hardly ever rains in Trinidad at 8:30. Since my Inn-keeper Jason frequently serves to the rooms outside, this made perfect sense. We've accommodated many guests who needed to leave early, and some who just came down late anyway, so I don't think we are inflexible. As far as sitting everyone down at the same time, I find it allows for a more creative 3 course breakfast and helps encourages conversation. Well that's my reasoning, and it's one tradition that won't be changing. I have, however, sent you a refund of your breakfast fee, since you were unhappy. Jason does not remember you asking to eat later, and has assured me that he would have kept your breakfast warm in the oven, if you would have requested it. I'm sorry we missed the ball on this one, Mike

The Trinidad Bay B&B is the best B&B we've ever stayed at. The views of Trinindad Bay are spectacular. The rooms were clean and bright. The breakfast was fantastic.

If you are planning a trip to the Redwood Forest, the Trinidad Bay B&B is perfect.

Thank you to Mike and Jason for a wonderful experience.

P.S. We stayed in the "Trinity Alps" room.

  • Liked — The view, breakfast, knowlegeable staff, (and the towels and sheets)
  • Disliked — Not too much nightlife in trinidad itself, you should drive 15 miles to Arcata and go to Tomo Sushi

Trinidad Bay Bed & Breakfast was a delightful resting place for our Fall visit to the North Coast. Now owned by Mike Morgan and managed by Jason Richie, and still perfectly located overlooking Trinidad Bay (and only four miles north of Eureka-Arcata Airport),
the Trinidad Bay was our perfect home away from home.
We saw this place from the outside on prior visits to Trinidad and said "Let's stay there next time." Wow, we are glad we did. For double the price of a motel room in Arcata or McKinleyville, we had the gorgeous view, the Trinidad Head trail just 1/2 mile up the road, the Cher-Ae Heights Casino with its fine restaurant (which also has great bay views) just a couple of miles up the road.

Best of all, we felt like we were staying with great friends, friends who keep an immaculate house with a breathtaking view, and provide a delicious breakfast! It's worth every cent -- and we've stayed in hundreds of hotels and B&Bs in our former lives when I was a travel agent.

If you go, be sure to read some of their Redwood Region trail literature and take a couple of drives and at minimum, strolls, among the giant redwoods just north of Trinidad.

We stayed in Redwoods Room -- they have four rooms.

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights at the Trinidad Bay Bed and Breakfast. We had never heard of Trinidad, but decided to stay here after looking at the Trinidad Bay B&B website. We stayed in the Trinity Alps Room. Simply amazing. The views were magical, lots of warm sunlight, really upscale furnishings and amenities. The room is decorated with a lot of furniture from Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, etc.... The room definitely has a more modern elegance to it. It was so much nicer than those other traditionally frumpy B&B's. Our room was an upstairs unit with our own private entrance.

Jason, the innkeeper, was really friendly and knowledgeable. He's a great cook and an great photographer too! Our breakfasts were brought to our room at 8:30a.m. on the dot. The breakfasts were very tasty and artfully prepared.

Although Trinidad may be a tiny town, there's a good amount to do. We hiked around some trails overlooking the ocean, walked along the beach and watched a sea lion basking in the sun.

But, lazing around in our comfy room, drinking tea, reading, playing poker, taking midday naps, browsing the internet (on their free WiFi!) was probably the most enjoyable part of our stay.

We would definitely recommend the Trinidad Bay B&B to any of our friends and family. You won't be disappointed!

BTW, check out the Moonstone Grill for dinner too. Awesome Seafood Chowder and steaks! Thanks Jason!

After we found out that we could not take our trip to Maui because of the recent earthquake, my wife and I traded our shorts for sweaters and headed up the beautiful Pacific Northwest towards Victoria, B.C. Our first stop along the way was in beautiful Trinidad. We called the Trinidad Bay B&B while we were on our way and once we arrived to the breath taking bay views and warm hospitality from Jason we knew we had picked the right place. The deal was sealed with the spacious and private room, the most comfortable bed that we've slept on in years, and a gourmet breakfast fresh from the oven the next morning. We will be back for a visit again!
