Yeh, so, don't expect to be wandering around in nothing but a sarong and a tank top, enjoying a refreshing mojito whilst reclining into a deckchair outside in the late evening. But do expect awesome scenery, great walking, lots of wildlife, a great communal area with a kitchen (and an open fire!), comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a few days of serenity.

This was a really great weekend out of Addis, and the drive there was as stunning as the park.

Definitely worth a trip.

Wonderfull landscapes en route (but bad and bumpy road) and on Guassa plateau, a walk in the rain with mules, very friendly and helpfull staff and the simple but cosy lodge, made our visit last July an unforgettable experience. Our children enjoyed it very much! The kitchen is well equiped so it is no problem to prepare your own meals and the lack of electricity makes it extra romantic to spend the evening by the open fire with candle light. Only take enough warm cloth because the evenings are cold on this altitude.
We also have seen many Gelada's near to the asphalt road and early morning an Ethiopian wolf near to the lodge. We only regret one thing: due to our travel program, our time was too short to explore the plateau properly and visit the traditional villages. We hope to come again for a longer visit. The lodge is only 6 h. drive from Addis and a wonderful place for a short holiday!
What we only missed was a good, english speaking local guide who could explain us more about the flora and fauna, the history of the ecosystem and culture of the people in Menz area.

I thought that this lodge was an excellent balance between comfort and simplicity. We even saw an Ethiopian wolf passing by (only 500 left in the wild!!!!), not too mention to incredibly entertaining geladas. Close to Addis - very easy to get there - and an excellent weekend activity.
