“New owners and menu disappoint”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

We used to go to Ginza at least twice a month. New owners have changed the menu and the service was incredibly slow. The menu is half the size of the previous menu with few special rolls. Our dinner for four took two hours. I hope they get their act together or they will not last long in Tiburon.

“Best Sushi in Tiburon”
Reviewed July 5, 2014

If you are visiting Tiburon and are a Sushi Fan "Ginza" is the place. Located walking distance from the Tiburon Ferry with a view from their deck (located on the water) of San Francisco! You can't go wrong with anything that you choose on their menu and the service is delightful and friendly.

“Disappointing”
Reviewed May 22, 2014

Made reservations earlier in the day looking forward to a great dinner experience. The staff tried hard to please but the ambience and food were disappointingly sub par. Would choose another option next time. I can forgive a lot if the food is good but unfortunately it wasn't.

“Good Sushi”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

I ordered the sunimomo salad which was supposed to have crabmeat but didn't see any crabmeat. I ordered takeout.

The roll that I ordered was good but I've had better elsewhere.

“Remarkably awful”
Reviewed June 19, 2013

Really terrible on many levels: first the restaurant is not clean. As we sat down, the waitress placed our setups over a table that had not been wiped down from the previous customer. The mis-en-place at the sushi bar was disheveled and disorderly with different kinds of fish jammed in on top of one another and bits of Saran Wrap crumpled up here and there. The men's room door faces the main part of the dining room so that if you look up as someone is opening the door, you get a clear shot of the toilet. Terribly unappetizing.

The sushi is profoundly ordinary. The butterfish sashimi which is highly recommended was still partly frozen. The "calamari" appetizer was made of large, toothsome octopus rings, not the expected and typical delicate squid. The courses were not served in classic order (i. e. first sashimi, then sushi, then rolls) and the various items all tasted the same - bland but ever so slightly off.

I'm not sure why this restaurant stays in business. In my opinion it is, at best, barely one step up from the packaged sushi sold in supermarkets today, Such a bustling, wealthy community deserves much better quality. Under no circumstances would I recommend this restaurant. There are many other restaurants in Tiburon from which to choose and plenty of great sushi places throughout the Bay area.
