“#1 in Tiburon”
Reviewed May 17, 2013

Tip: if you are a visitor and will make just one visit to Tiburon, plan it for when this depot is open. A chance to see then and now in the flesh, rather than just pictures. The depot contains a working model railway layout of Tiburon rail yard in 1909. You can look out the window and see how the very same land lies now. Also fascinating artifacts and dvds related to rail in the area and the NWP railroad. Worth lingering and chatting to the knowledgeable and friendly docents. Another fine example of what can be achieved by good will and hard work.

“Pleasant Suprise”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

Walking along the Bay from our hotel we came across this Museum that was once the Ferry Master's home. Gave the history of Tiburon as a rail/ferry hub across the Bay. Neat model train display show how freight and people were loaded.

“A great stop!”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

My wife and I passed the little museum and stopped in on a whim. The location on the waterfront in Tiburon is stunning - a beautiful park next door and expansive views of the bay. A friendly docent greeted us inside and offered a tour which we gratefully accepted. She gave us a great history of the railroad in Tiburon and even ran some of the trains on a fabulous model layout that dominates the first floor. A small museum but a very enjoyable 20 minute stop!

“Interesting look at local rail road history”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

Docent's made the tour. It is a small museum that one could walk around in less than twenty minutes so, make sure that you ask a docent for a tour. There is so much interesting information that they have about the family that lived there.
