“A great stop!”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

My wife and I passed the little museum and stopped in on a whim. The location on the waterfront in Tiburon is stunning - a beautiful park next door and expansive views of the bay. A friendly docent greeted us inside and offered a tour which we gratefully accepted. She gave us a great history of the railroad in Tiburon and even ran some of the trains on a fabulous model layout that dominates the first floor. A small museum but a very enjoyable 20 minute stop!

“Interesting look at local rail road history”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

Docent's made the tour. It is a small museum that one could walk around in less than twenty minutes so, make sure that you ask a docent for a tour. There is so much interesting information that they have about the family that lived there.

Interesting look at Tiburon back in the RR days and how the stationmasters family lived. Be sure to take the upstairs tour.

“Quaint, Small but well-preserved”
Reviewed April 23, 2012

The town has done an excellent job maintaining artifacts and the depot. It looks out on to the ocean, is a few minutes walk from the downtown and admission is free (donations suggested only) !

Its a few rooms in what might look like a small house but the kids would love to see the model railroad inside and a few of the old artifacts.

About 5-10 minutes in the museum and you're done but its a very nice short walk right next to downtown Tiburon.

Not an attraction you would go to Tiburon for, but well worth checking out if you are in Tiburon.

“Super exhibit captures the look of Tiburon 100 years ago!”
Reviewed December 24, 2010

Had a great time visiting the Railroad Museum this fall with my family. The main floor houses a neat view of what the town looked like 100 years ago and the detail in the models is well done. If you hit the right docent they even run the trains up and down the model. The museum sits on the shore of the Bay and has incredible views back to the Golden Gate Bridge as well as SF. A great place to have a picnic is out on the grass lawn on the water.
