THE TAMARA COORG
It's a heaven for those who love peace and smell of coffee plantation.very unique property and near to nature with a touch of mordanity.
Specialy the restaurant "THE DECK" with amazing view and awsome food.
You also have chances to spot rare birds in the property as I spot a "MALABAR HORNBILL"
It worth a visit I enjoyed it !!

Tamara, A resort with perfect location and luxury. Hospitality of the staff is very. One thing i liked about the hospitality is you just checkin and forget every other thing.
Reaching the resort from madikeri takes an hour long journey. there are sign boards all the way. The resort property starts with a concrete road about 4 kms, the reception is last point of the road
.After you arrive first thing is the billing and that takes quite some time. once you are done with. forget your car and other things. everything will be taken care of. Just get into the room and enjoy the
luxury and nature.

restaurant is all the way up to the entire property, if u cant walk need to call for a buggy in advance.
Menu at the restaurant is always a Buffet, Food is nothing extraordinary. but given the place so interior in the jungles i feel its great to have many varieties.
Food quality is just good.

Pros: Nice location, quiet and calm. sleep quality is good. you can hear a lot of birds chirping in the morning.
Blossom to brew , this activity where you get to know how coffee is made and you can make your own personalised coffee powder.
this activity is great and one should not miss,
Plantation tour , where you get to see the whole property.
For trekkers, there's a 4 hour trek to a peak.

Cons : No much activities, pool not ready spa not yet functional. resort is bit costly without pool and spa.
more than three days you might get bored.
Each luxury cottage is divided, you can listen people talking from other part.

If you just want to relax and have a peice of mind, and dont mind the cost go for it.

One more point, you wil get your car washed on the day of checkout, tats great.

Room Tip: there are less rooms with valley views, book in advance. chances are less to get those rooms. Apart...

Location & Approach - Just when you breathe a sigh of relief upon reaching Madikeri, you see a board that says that The Tamara is still 36 kms away ! The winding roads are not exactly in the best condition so driving can be a bit of a strain. The 4 km snake like road from Napoklu up to the resort can just fit one car, and any oncoming traffic can be a nightmare if not for a small space provided by a lay by or a hair pin bend. Well one really can't do anything about it except be careful while driving. Refuelling your car in Madikeri, before you set out towards the resort would not be bad idea.

Rooms & Service - Rooms are well furnished, beds are comfortable. The view from the balcony however is only good for rooms 107 onwards, as trees hide most parts of the valley. The service (front desk, buggy service, housekeeping) is prompt and efficient. There is no Room service so people in the habit of eating at regular intervals should be ready for a moderately steep hike to the one and only restaurant in the resort every time your tummy gurgles. A special mention of the exec chef Ranjan who was kind enough to ask us what we liked and actually made it a point to include it in the next meal's menu.

Amenities & Tours- the resort houses a spa (which was closed when i visited). Yoga and meditation can be given a shot while there. The coffee plantation walk was average at best with no structure or useful / interesting information. The coffee brewing experience in the Verandah was also average as the guide was in a hurry to finish his discourse.

Thumbs Up - The rooms, the tranquility, the staff (especially the restaurant staff), the weather
Thumbs Down - the approach, the excursions, the tariff

All in all - if you really want tranquility, peace and clean air amidst the Ghats, after a long arduous drive, then this is the place for you.

Room Tip: The view from the balcony however is only good for rooms 107 onwards, as trees hide most parts of th...

Dear Rohit,

Thank you for choosing The Tamara Coorg. We are delighted to learn that you basked in the tranquility of our resort and the pampering of our staff. Our Chef and his team would be glad to hear of your appreciation of their service.

The Tamara Coorg has been conceived in the heart of a 170-acre live coffee & spice plantation, in a location far removed from the buzzing towns of Coorg, so that you may completely sync in with Nature and experience the tranquility that all travelers yearn for when they visit The Tamara Coorg.

I would like to bring to your notice that our cottages nestled right among the trees can attract bugs and insects very easily when food items are left open. Hence, we take the precaution of no room service to ensure you an undisturbed vacation.

We hope you would be able to savor more of The Tamara Experience on your next visit.

Warm regards,
The Tamara Coorg

We actually lived in the forest in its natural beauty, experiencing nature, its serenity and peace and at the same time had all the comforts and luxury.
The forest, the birds, the rain, the smell of mother earth when it's soaked and drenched in rains, the clouds, the air all at its best.
It is a remarkable creation right from conceptualising to building a world class resort in its luxury and still not impacting the natural beauty of Mother Nature.
The hospitality of the entire staff along with the senior management is extremely commendable. They made us feel at home amongst family and not like guests. Every small requirement was observed and taken care of, without even being told or requested for.

When I say - check-in & forget everything else, I mean it :)

It doesn't matter how far it is from Madikere or how long it takes to get there, but once you are there you can just sink in. The hospitality of the staff, soothing environment, being surrounded by nature, all the amenities in room & within the resort, neat and well equipped rooms, quick response for any kind of maintenance . What more you can ask for???

All together - A world on its own.

We booked the room for the 3 days - 2 nights package. They called up frequently before and during the travel to provide any assistance. It was about 50 ~ 60 kms from Madikere town and it took us some time to reach to the resort. But they welcomed us & check-in was also done without any hassle. Since the resort is located on the side of a steep hill, they have golf buggies and Innova car available to reach any place within the resort.

You can spend the entire day with in the plantation experiencing first hand coffee brewing experience there. There is even facilities and staff available for trekking as well- for those who wants to experience a bit more :)

The best part of the whole experience??? - I would definitely say the cuisine. There is no doubt that "The Falls restaurant" in the resort is serving the best in class cuisines which will tempt all your taste buds.

Advice to other fellow travelers: don't plan to go out to visit other places. just spend the time in this resort it self. As I mentioned earlier - its a world on its own

Room Tip: We were staying in luxury cottage, which was still having a good balcony. But if you wish have a vie...

Dear Guest,

It was a pleasure hosting you.

Thank you so much for your kind words on The Tamara Experience. We are absolutely delighted to learn that you have relished every moment and aspect of your stay with us. Our resort has been designed to seamlessly blend with its bountiful surroundings that include not only the rich flora & fauna but also the famed Kodava hospitality that runs through the veins of most of our staff.

We are glad to learn that our practice of using silent electric vehicles for commuting within the premises is as well received by our guests as the plantation tour and “Blossom to Brew” coffee experience. Our kitchen crew will be immensely gratified to receive your positive remarks on their creations.

We hope you would visit us again some other time to enjoy more of The Tamara Experience.

Warm regards,
The Tamara Coorg.

There are few properties, where I would get irresistible to upload my view, whilst my ongoing stay. The Tamara Coorg, is one of them. What an experience!!! guys, they literally know how to spoil your habits. All the loving and humble staff, are always eager to help, you, may it be just calling for a inter-property conveyance "buggi" or a special cuisine. The arrangements are so impeccably perfect, that I tried to rational my views even with an critic eye, I failed. I am so glad I selected this wonderful destination as my family vacation that too on the eve of diwali, a festival of lights & victory. The cottages are well maintained, right from keeping the foot in the property at the reception, you can start the feeling that you are a special guest and they would walk to any extra mile for making your stay memorable. We had good experience with Lokesh the Trekking guide, who helped us to experience the wilderness and forest of Kodagu region. Guys!! if u r planning for COORG or you want to know how good you can be spoilt or pampered, This is the place. The one and only The Tamara Coorg.
