Unpleasant experience because no elevator and no one to help with luggage. Had to haul luggage up to second floor. Then room with no air conditioning and inadequate heat. No TV, Location was nice with great view from room. Fun to walk around property

Thank you for your comments:

We are sorry to disappoint you .....all the issues you raise are clearly stated on our web site as we are a getaway destination with no TVs on the cool coast of Sonoma with ocean breezes for our guest rooms with fans. We offer additional heaters to go with our floorboard wall heaters should a guest want additional heat and fireplaces in most rooms.
Should a guest have need we are always glad to assist with luggage but we did not get any indication from you that you wanted assistance as you parked away from our site in the back lot.
We are a remote recharging destination that guests that stay with us come for the rugged beauty, great views and seasonal fresh dining.
We wish you great future travels

In truth, I haven't stayed here this century. But the north coast is so gorgeous , and the Lodge so welcoming, and so off the common path, I have to provide the only review anyone will ever see here. Years ago my wife and I, intending to build a house here,. bought a lot at Sea Ranch. We were drawn by the raw beauty of the coast and the isolation. WE never built but we stayed at the Lodge, at rented houses and with friends over 30 years. That California can have such a gorgeous area and have it almost unvisited because of its location, on the Sonoma coast 2+ hours north of San Francisco We also stayed up and down that coast. The draw is the ocean and rugged coastline. We sold our lot twenty years ago, but the coast is still there, as beautiful as ever. And there are more places to stay. Go to just about anyone. Now I'll lie about when I went.

Beautiful room overlooking the ocean. We brought our dog and they had a nice comfy bed for him and a small snack as well as water and feeding bowl all set out. Great walking trails and Adirondack chairs to relax in looking over the ocean. Close to Gualala and well worth the trip.

Beautiful location with fantastic views and little trails that go all over the property. The restaurant is great and serves delicious food accompanied by a terrific wine list. I highly recommend this place as just a stop in when driving on the 1, a weekend or more.

Our two nights at Sea Ranch was an anniversary gift that we finally were able to take. We had a great lunch in Jenner, stopped at Fort Ross and arrived at 230.Our room was not ready until 4, and we did know check in was at 4, but sure didn't see anyone else waiting to check in! The room was a basic motel room with a view. Nothing over the top to write home about. Yes, there was a mini fridge....no small microwave for my cooling coffee or yesterday's pastry, no bedside clock, no paper, no pen, no desk for our laptop, no guest directory and there were 2 uncomfortable chairs, of whichever style you wish to call them. The bathroom was newly redone and was nice. But the door was the hanging barn door style so whenever anyone in the 3 adjoining rooms closed their door, we heard it. In addition the door was not flush with the wall there being a 1" gap.....nevertheless the shower and water pressure were good. So, we had our wine in our room with no work space and without tv for a movie or DVD, sports or news. We understand the no TV idea but as a guest I would have enjoyed checking out a DVD from the lobby or bringing my movies that I haven't had time to see. So, all there was left was walking. Well, that didn't happen. So off to an overpriced dinner, with about the same prices and offerings as Timber Cove, and the wine selection was limited and pricey. $17 for a glass of chardonnay? Really. Our waitress was Samantha and she saved the day for us letting us know what she thought the best meals were....and credits to the chef who let me have an Alfredo sauce instead of the pesto sauce. Thank you! Breakfast was also pricey with $12 french toast.....2 slices, 4 bacons. Anyway, it seems people either love Sea Ranch or don't. We just couldn't take the nothing to do and if you wanted to do something that was another 30 miles up a long and winding road....give me Pacific Grove, downtown Boise, historic Cheyenne.....We left a day early and were pleased to have received a credit to the credit card.

Room Tip: Room 5 was nice and upstairs. No one walking on our heads!

Thank you for your comments:

We are sorry you did not enjoy what we offer as a getaway from the city traffic and stress of the TV news. Our guests come for the beauty of the coast, to read a great book, or share quality time with their significant other, walk some of the 50 miles of trails along the rugged coastline.
We wish you safe future travels
