I was asked to attend the first annual lavender tour of the Temecula Lavender Company in Temecula, California. I have been to lavender fields from Europe to the Island of Maui. To visit a lavender farm in Temecula was something different. Westways Magazine and the City of Temecula convinced the owners to give out a tour and talk about the lavender that grows among the oldest growth Merlot grape vines in Temecula Wine Country region.
The owners were gracious and friendly to the group of 20 people. The group learned about the various types of lavender, culinary uses, medicinal and were given distillation process demonstration. The lavender lemonade was wonderful along with cookies. There were 3 tours that day and I am sure there were satisfied visitor to a most deserving small business owners who are passionate about lavender.
