“Can even bring your wife or girl; tee placement great”

Journey at Pechanga
Reviewed February 15, 2014

I accompanied my husband with trepidation as I had heard Journey was challenging and I shoot in the mid to high 90's. How pleased I was to find that the ladies' tees were generous to us gals. We LOVED the course. Not only is the course a dream to play, but, the elevations give you some amazing views. One tee box view is now the featured picture on my Profile page on FB. The fairways and greens could not have been in better condition. You truly feel that you are playing a 5 star course (hats off to the grounds keepers!). Best yet, I shot a 92, a personal best.

This Arthur Hills/Steve Forrest design is fantastic. Built on ancestral lands of the Pechanga Indians, it includes spectacular elevation changes (a 300 foot drop on #7 and a similar total on #17 and #18), beautiful water features (fast running streams feeding ponds and lakes), good strategic bunkering and a good mix of long and short holes. It was in terrific shape with great greens. Also has a nice practice facility

Journey at the Pechanga is one the nicest golf courses within driving distances of the Southern California area. It has the most comfortable golf cart that I have tried. The course was very well maintained. The grass on fairways are cut such that it make the shots easier to hit. The greens are on the slow side, but minimize the chance for three putts. On many of the holes, they provide some of the most spectacular views of the Temecula area and the Pechanga Casino.

Our only mistake was that we played from the wrong tees. The total length of the course was reasonable. There are several holes that required fairly long carry over hazard areas. For our group, the carry was too long for half of the golfers. There are several tees to choose. Golfers should study the hole layouts and make sure that the ball carry are reasonable.

If you start on hole one and drive your cart all 18 holes it will take you 45 minutes. its a journey. the course is played around a couple of mountains. great views of the Temecula valley. bring a camera. no one can walk the course. too hilly. a lot of interesting things to see...lakes, rivers, and tee pees. need food? try the café located next to the pro shop. great food.
