“This has got to be the best Italian food in Temecula!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2014

My husband and I picked this restaurant because of its high ranking with other reviewers and also the recommendation of our friend who was dining with us and who lives locally. Not only were we not disappointed: this place knocked our socks off! We will make a point to dine here each time we're in Temecula.

It is well located, in a shopping center just off Winchester Road. It is kind of hard to locate once you're in the center however. A good landmark right now is the Rite-Aid drugstore: it's right across from it.

The ambience is pleasant and comfortable, with several dining areas available with both booths and tables. There is live entertainment in the bar area which was very good, although we opted for a quieter area so that we could enjoy our conversation. For the romantics out there: there are several totally secluded, private little "nooks", where couples can enjoy a romantic dinner, out of view of anyone else. Very charming!

We started off by sharing the Carciofi appetizer, which were artichoke hearts (fresh, not canned or bottled) which had been marinated in-house, then rolled in seasoned breadcrumbs and cheese and then fried, and served with a sauce. They were delicious!
Our entrees were 1) Pappardelle alla Romana 2)Ravioli Lorenzo and 3)Linguini all Florentina. In each case, the entrees were utterly deliciious (we sampled each other's, of course!), with perfect home-made pasta, delicious sauces with perfect balance. Do yourself a favor and check out their menu before you go: you will not be able to resist!

The night we were there (a Wednesday night), the manager was hosting a tasting by a nearby winery. When we were informed that the wine we wished to order was out of stock, we opted to try one of the wines being offerred.in the tasting. It was absolutely marvelous! For those of you who live in the area, the wine was a Cab from Casa Tiene Vista vineyard in Fallbrook. We had a nice chat with the owner, Mick Gallagher, and found that the winery does not ship out of state, which was a disappointment to us. But you lucky locals can take advantage of this fantastic wine!

The service was great: informed, friendly, professional, quick and very "authentic" (our server had a very charming accent). It distresses me that I cannot recall her name so that I could give her a well-deserved "shout out".

Our only dissapointment was that the espresso machine was out of order, which can happen to anyone. Hopefully, it was fixed quickly! Also, some of the dishes tasted a triffle too salty: not horribly so. But if you are sensitive to salt, be sure to mention this so that the kitchen can accommodate. I forgot to do so.....

Do yourself a favor when you are next in Temecula, and enjoy this gem of a place!

“A Real Winner for Restaurant Month”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2014

January is Restaurant Month in Temecula and a great time to try new restaurants. We really lucked out with La Bella VIta. They had a $30 three course dinner featuring probably the best filet mignon I have ever eaten, even in the best steakhouses. It was full of flavor, perfectly cooked and marvelously tender; also nicely presented on a bed of roasted potatoes and trimmed with asparagus. The special menu is only good until next Friday but the filet can be obtained after that by requesting the "filetto." The regular menu houses reasonably priced pasta, chicken and fish. The pasta is made in house and is gluten free and the staff was very accommodating in dealing with the dietary restrictions of one of our group. There is live music in the bar, which draws a younger fun loving crowd. Serious eating is on the left side. We will definitely be back soon.

“Sunday Brunch”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

Came here with a large party for my father-in-law's birthday. The owner greeted us personally and gave us a quick tour of the restaurant, which was a nice touch. The restaurant space itself is beautiful - quiet, classy, lots of artwork on the walls, huge wine display, and an outdoor patio. This restaurant is very, very clean, which was appreciated. The cost was $25 per person for the brunch, and an extra $6 for bottomless champagne. The food itself was available at 3 different stations - one for prime rib/omelets/waffles, one for entrees like lasagna, penne with vodka sauce, white fish with capers, chicken, and potatoes. The final station featured a large variety of desserts. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. Finally, they had a gentleman playing live music, and this added to the ambiance rather than overwhelming it.
Overall, we had an excellent time. The cost was slightly high for a breakfast buffet, but the quality of the food and the atmosphere justified the price.

“Not as good as expected.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 12, 2014 via mobile

Atmosphere was nice but the service was very poor. My wife and I went on a Sunday evening and were seated in the bar area. The bartender was waiting on us. He was also busy with bar patrons and drink orders, so we waited forever to get our orders and food. Not once did anyone come by and fill the water glasses or ask if everything was ok. Had to flag the bartender down to get our check after waiting about 30 minutes after we were done eating. The food was ok, but not stellar. It's too bad as they have the perfect setting to be a high star restaurant.
