Owner description: What began as a long-time dream for Brother-in-laws Lawrie Lipton and Mark Manfield, came to fruition with the opening of Lorimar Vineyards and Winery. In fact, the name Lorimar itself was formed by combining Lawrie and Mark's first names. Lorimar's Old Town location was opened in 2009 while the Wine Country property was under construction. In the spring of 2012 Lorimar Vineyards and Winery celebrated with thousands of local residents and guests for the Grand Opening of our second location, an incredible Tuscan style winery in the heart of Temecula Valley Wine Country. Featuring breathtaking views of Mount Palomar and the Santa Ana Mountains, Lorimar features live music on the sunset patio every weekend all year long. Guests will also enjoy relaxing by the stone fireplace surrounded by a living art gallery, filled with works from many local artists. At Lorimar we craft wines that are approachable with a fruit forward style that showcases the strengths of Temecula Wine Country. "We create wines using the best of the old world ways combined with today's more advanced technologies, producing delicious varietals and exciting blends," explains co-owner, Lawrie Lipton. Our Tuscan style winery is showcased amidst adjoining orange groves and our 22 acre estate vineyard. Our first vine plantings were of Cabernet Sauvignon in 2000 followed by Syrah, Grenache, Muscat, Viognier and Sangiovese. Temecula's wine growing region is unique and special. We are 22 miles away from the ocean which classifies us a Maritime climate. Balanced with warm sunny days and cool nights, the vines flourish and produce excellent fruit in our climate. The soil composition of decomposed granite and clay drains well and is ideal for retaining moisture reserves deep below the surface roots. "Our goal is to create a Fusion of Wine, Art and Music"

“Shockingly poor wines!”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

Though they have recently constructed a new wine tasting room and adjoining patio with a large gift shop? I am surprised they don't spend as MUCH time in honing their wines, for they are some of the most mediocre I've ever encountered with little flavor or appeal. Not one appealed to me, which is a HUGE rarity. Though ample parking and nice building? Servers were AWFUL...Young kids with NO knowledge of wines or serving the public whatsoever. Just doesn't "cut it" for a Califonia wine tasting experience. Try Chapin Family or another in this valley? -And you will see what I mean...

“Not bad, average, friendly”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

The wine server was friendly and knowledgeable. We purchased a bottle of red wine from here to bring home.

“A lovely time!”
Reviewed March 17, 2013

We made reservations ahead of time for the Backstage Tour, which was very educational. Most of their wine-making is done at another location, but seeing the vines and hearing all about the science behind winemaking was very nice. Our guide Peggy was lovely! The tour came with a 6 wine tasting, and all for $22! They have small cheese and sausages to buy as well, which were delicious. The outdoor area was beautiful and they have live music on the weekends. I will certainly be going back for that!

“Keep your eye on the bar staff!”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

The tasting charge here is quite high. The wine is not bad, but when we went to check out the entertainer, our tasting cards disappeared from the bar, and we were told we had used all of our pours, even though we has 3 remaining. Because we were shortchanged, we won't return.

“Wine, Art & Music - A Winning Trio”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

For a relaxing Sunday afternoon, head out to Lorimar Winery in Temecula Wine Country. The brand new Tuscan themed winery opened in May 2012 and is quite the showcase! There are 3 large tasting rooms which can accommodate the busloads of people that enter the doors. Live music on the outside patio is always entertaining with local talent. Local artists display their works inside the gift shop and beautiful metal art pieces adorn the walls. There is a wood fired pizza oven and cheese and proscuitto available for wine pairings. The wines are truly amazing and named after musical terms. Varietals include Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Sangiovese, Viogner, Sauvignon Blanc and even a California Sparkling Wine. Tastings are expensive at $18 each, however, these are the top wines in Temecula and worth it! The wine club is a good value and for the price of a few tastings, you can join the wine club and receive great wines and free tastings!
