Leoness doesn't have the large expanse of other wineries such as Wilson Creek, but it does have a much more intimate setting. I've been here several times because it's the winery everyone always wants to go to when we go out tasting. There are reasons for that. The views are gorgeous. If you need to see Tuscany on a budget, I'd imagine this is about as close as you can get in this area of California. You absolutely have to go out on the patio and get some photos. As far as tasting experience, it's a more intimate setting. Tastings cost $15 here and are conducted in a more one-on-one setting. I've been to other wineries where they ask what you want, pour you a glass and shuffle over to someone else like a bartender during happy hour. Leoness, however, tends to lend more to conversation with those pouring the wine and they are much more likely to give you suggestions and listen to get a gauge on your personal preference. That makes this a great setting for novice wine drinkers who want to know more without embarrassment. Everyone who has served me there has been very down-to-earth. There are cool gifts in the winery entrance and usually live music on the weekends. Great place to buy a glass after tasting and relax on the patio listening to live acoustic musicians.
