“Deliciously surprising.”
Reviewed October 5, 2012 via mobile

It's so hard to write a meaningful review of a restaurant with an extensive menu. Unless you're going to do a Robert
Irvine and order one of everything - you can't possibly provide a comprehensive picture. Instead, I give you three little words. Pumpkin Curry Shrimp. We selected King of Siam based on TA reviews and a desire for some freshly prepared food at the end of a day traveling the winding golden back roads of California. On an unprepossessing corner of a strip mall that might have been in anywhere USA ... We had a very nice, worth going back for, relaxing and delicious meal. A large lovely bowl filled with creamy, silky, spicy red curry full of small bites of tender Kabocha pumpkin, peas, sweet red pepper, onion and big pink shrimp. Lots of them. Gorgeous. And so good that I had to save some for breakfast. My husband had shrimp and vegetables in a spicy garlic chili sauce. Perfectly crisp tender and delicately seasoned. As good or better than his previous favorite Thai. We started the night with the fresh spring rolls ( while making our choices.). They were light and flavorful with peanut sauce and a sweet/hot chili sauce on the side. That and three glasses of wine set us back about $45. Plus tip. On the way out of town early the next morning we began plotting ways to return to Tehachapi. We live in Oregon. That's how good the Pumpkin Curry Shrimp is.

“Really fresh Thai food -- excellent quality!”
Reviewed August 10, 2012

This was our third visit to King of Siam. We stop in when coming to or leaving Las Vegas NV. We were on our way home from Vegas this time & checked into Marriott Fairfield Inn where we always stay & then our family of 4 went to dinner at KOS. We were all really hungry, but we were blown away by the freshness of the food in our fishes. The vegetables were all so fresh looking & delicious. You can order brown rice (which is much more healthy) for $2.00 more & I did this. We had two orders of the Green Curry which was amazing & we had it with tofu this time instead of our usual chicken. We had one order of broccoli beef & one order of orange chicken (the china dish). Everything was amazing. It makes me want to hop in the car & drive 3 hours to get there! Without asking for a level of spicyness, everything was just right, about medium spicy on the green curry. There was nothing left when we were finished, it was so good. We have a lot to compare this food to as we live in an area that has an abundance of Thai restaurants & I would rate KOS as better than our local ones in San Luis Obispo County.
Servers are friendly, you may need to ask for more water as they usually forget to come & refill, but when you do they are happy to do it. Love it!

“Good Thai food”

Tehachapi though a small town offers an exceptional variety of very good to excellent dining choices. King of Siam is the best choice for Asian cuisine, outside of sushi. Very clean with friendly service.

“Eat here! Delicious Thai.”

I love this place. The food has always been fresh and delicious, the ambiance is incredible. The soup is served in a bowl with a flame running through it. Very good service and reasonably priced.
