“Loved Tahoma Meadows!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 3, 2008

Stayed at Tahoma Meadows for a quick weekend trip in August. Previous reviews on tripadvisor convinced us to book our stay here.

Tahoma Meadows is located on Tahoe's west shore. Tahoe City is roughly 10 miles to the north and the casinos of south shore is a quick drive away. Location wise, Tahoma Meadows is perfectly situated. The Sunnyside and Chambers resort are close by for great dinner and drinks and the beach at Meeks Bay is 2 miles to the south.

All of the cabins at Tahoma Meadows are individual units spread across the property lot. We stayed in the Meadow Cabin and it was exactly what we expected. Comfortable and tastefully decorated in a mountain-esque theme. The owners have done a nice job updating the cabins as each now has a gas fireplace which must be nice in the winter. Depending on the cabin, a full breakfast is included with your stay. Don't miss the breakfast! It's a great way to start the day.

Overall a great place if your looking for a quick weekend getawa

We recently stayed 3 nights in the Boat House Cottage. It has seen better days. It was old, worn and in much need of a remodel. Fresh paint , new curtains, bed and bed linens and wall pictures and it could be nice again. I peeked in other cottages and they were much nicer... Do ask a lot of questions BEFORE you book here....I wish I had.....I would have rated this place higher if we had stayed in another cottage..

The breakfasts are served to the kitchen cottages in the quiet time of year only, which was a real treat for us. Very good, full, hearty country breakfasts with fruit, casseroles, potatoes, breads, etc. They were made by Linda the friendly hostess. The water at this lodge for drinking and bathing was fabulous. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Tahoma is on the "quiet "side of the Lake and centrally located between the "busy" cities of Tahoe City and South Lake Tahoe. This B & B is also near to the 3 wonderful state parks which really provides the best access to the lake. Most of the lake shore is private homes with alot of "Keep Out" signs.

We were on our way home after rambling about in the Lassen area, and decided to head south via Tahoe. Although we didn't book anything ahead of time, I checked the internet for possibilities in areas we intended to pass through. I spotted the Tahoma Meadows website and kept it in mind as we traveled.

We whizzed past it heading down the west shore, and I yelled at my husband to stop and turn around so we could check it out. It looked too good to be true from the road, however, it turned out to be even better!

Not only are the little cottages charming and comfortable, the staff is extraordinarily friendly and helpful. If you stay in one of the B & B cottages (as opposed to one of the larger family cottages with kitchens), you get a full and fabulous breakfast the next day.

What really speaks to the hospitality of the year-round place is the personal, hand-written comments in the guest books that are placed in each cottage. Some of the guests have been coming back for years. The oft-penned comment "I wish I could have stayed longer," echoes our own feelings, and we intend to return.

Hi,

Me and my wife and niece stayed at Tahoma Meadows for a few days back in July 2007. We had a really nice stay. The property is in a great location. Its halfway between the parks and Tahoe city on the west coast of the lake. About 10 or so minutes to either. Also its one of the few places with a general store and video rental place within a short walk. The property is set back from the road in a shady area and has a dozen or so cottages spread out in the area. The cottages are really cute, charming. They have hammocks outside and gas fireplaces in the bedroom and clawfoot tubs in the bathroom. Our youngster loved it and so did we. No marble bathroom or fancy service, but we dont look for that when we vacation. A friendly and helpful staff and a warm charming cabin are more welcome as far as im concerned and you will find both here. Breakfast is available every morning in the main house. The guests gather for a homemade meal and good coffee around the tables. I think most people will love this place.

Hope this helps

Yours,

Raul (Duke) Royale

Tahoma Meadows is a small group of cottages located on the highway that goes up the west side of Lake Tahoe. We stayed in the cottage named the Tree House, which is billed as a 2 bedroom place. The cottage is quite cute, but the bedrooms are really just sleeping lofts in the attic. You have to pass through the larger of the two to get downstairs ... so much for privacy. The bathroom is rather oddly located behind the kitchen, but is fine otherwise. Getting up in the middle of the night requires going down rather steep stairs and snaking through the kitchen into the bathroom. The cottage is a good place to hang out, and has a complete kitchen facility. I can see skiers really enjoying it, but we were there to exploring, not skiing. Heat is provided by a gas log stove, supplemented by portable electric radiators and was effective. A nearby market has a surprisingly good selection of fresh food stuff. I can't speak to breakfast since the cottages with kitchens don't include it. We had a good time in the area and had an absolutely superb meal at the Christy Hill restaurant in Tahoe City just up the road.

We stayed at Tahoma Meadows for three nights late February. We were there to ski and explore the lake area. I did not want to be in a city but close to nature. This was the ideal place. We had to change rooms once because we booked late but both rooms were wonderful. I don't quite recall their names but I believe it was Bear's Den and Moose..something. The queen sized bed was comfortable, the bathroom small but nice, the decoration fabulous. As so many have said before,
breakfast is a real treat at this place (breakfast is not included if you rent the cottages with kitchens). At 5pm every day there is a wine and cheese hour where everyone meets and chats about their day. the owners and staff are great. I would stay here again any time of the year! the distance from the different ski resorts was excellent (never more than a 20 minutes drive). We went to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows (which we loved) but Homewood is supposed to be excellent too and it is at less than a 5 minute drive from the B&B. Grea for family skiing. The third day we drove around the lake. How beautiful this place is! Finally, there are plenty of excellent restaurants cheap to expensive within walking distance or 5-10 minute drive from the B&B. So you are not isolated. Why would you want to stay in an ugly place like South Lake Tahoe wen you can stay here??

Lovely cosy little cottages, in a fabulous location. The room was immaculately turned out, and a superb variety of breakfast treats, including some heavenly omelette type dishes. A great base to explore Lake Tahoe. Oh, and we even had a bbq!
