We have been dining at Spindleshanks every year for the past few years, but our most recent visit was far and away the best meal...so good we went back for round two during our vacation. We have dined at the various restaurants over the years that owner Steven has run and he always seems to have a wonderful menu with flavorful food and an excellent staff. If you are staying on the north side of Tahoe, you should definitely make plans to dine at Spindleshanks!

After being let down by a restaurant in the same area the last time we were in North Tahoe, we opted for Spindleshanks this trip and were not disappointed.

We weren't very hungry and looking at the hearty menu thought that we'd be taking most of the meal home with us, but once we had been told about the specials we both chose from the specials menu and had a nice, smaller meal.

The mussels on the specials menu should be on the full-time a-la-carte menu. They are terrific. The sauce could be drunk as a soup it's so tasty. The salads that followed were just the right size for our appetite.

Warm, nutty bread, great service and good food - we will go back.

We ate dinner at Spindleshanks on May 9, 2008. I ordered the Butternut Squash Ravioli and my boyfriend ordered a Blackened Ribeye. Wow! First, my ravioli was homemade and you could taste it. It had a wonderful flavor and the dish was topped off with rosemary and shavings of fresh parmesan. My boyfried's ribeye was around 12 oz.. The blackening was particularly spicy however the orange chutney that was served as an accompaniment evened and cooled the flavors out. The bread they served is worth mentioning...it was ciabatta bread with a hearty yet delicate crunch on the outside and tender bread on the inside. The waiter states that the bread is baked in Truckee, CA and you can buy the bread in Safeway stores in the their baked goods section. Along with dinner we ordered 2 wine flights (three-2 oz. servings of three different wines) which is a very good deal at $10.00 per flight. Service was relatively slow considering it was off season and not extremely busy; however, the waiter was very accomodating. Definitely try this restaurant if you like wine and fine dining!!

We dined at Spindleshanks with our family including toddler age through grandparents. Service and food were excellent and they were most acommodating to our little ones which kept them happy and in turn all of us quite happy. Excellent views and atmosphere, and did I mention the food? Yum!
