“Restaurant is called The Boathouse”
Reviewed July 30, 2014 via mobile

Captain Jon's is the name on the sign outside at the beach/pier, but the restaurant name is the Boathouse. There is no food service from 3-5 pm, but we sat out on the dock and had drinks until the kitchen opened. We ordered appetizers-jicama ceviche tacos, gourmet corn on the cob and tostadas. All food was excellent and the view was exceptional.

Didn't eat there but the margaritas were excellent!! The restaurant is right on the lake, and the service was very good.

“Summer tradition for our friends and family now rocking the lake again!”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

I was beyond happy to see this location is back in business. We have enjoyed the views and ambiance year after year! This is the must visit place for everyone who comes to Tahoe in our circle. You feel as though you are in the Lake when you sit on the deck/pier. We are thrilled to report that the new management is reviving the good vibes we remember. The food was very tasty, oyster bar is a new addition and simply awesome. We enjoyed the signature cocktail as we took in the views. Service was excellent, our server I believe his name was Mike was very personable and really made our experience that more enjoyable. Can't wait for our next guests to visit so we can go back!

“Spectacular View-The Boat House formally Capt Jon's”
Reviewed July 13, 2014

There is few views as breath taking as Lake Tahoe. This restaurant was formally Captain Jon's is now The Boat House. The service was solid, the menu small but very tasty. The Oyster Bar was very good. Sitting on the deck adds to the experience. If you dine in the evening bring a jacket. Parking Is marginal but workable.
Bar is very simple but it works. Go enjoy the view and the service while savoring the food.

“This restaurant is closed - might be nice if they said so”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

I made a reservation on line, using their website. Got a confirmation back, and was looking forward to having our cocktails while watching the sunset. We checked into the B&B next door (Shore House, very nice, BTW) and walked over to the restaurant - only to find it CLOSED. Our host later told us the restaurant had been closed for 9 months! Their website is still up and running and taking reservations, with no notice to potential customers that they will not be seated and will receive nothing to eat when they arrive. Anyway, we made the best of it - walked across the street to the steak house and had a very good and satisfying meal over there.
