I would definitely recommend the Tahoe City Inn to a friend. It was a nice, cozy place to stay. The location is great, in walking distance to the lake and lots of shops. I really enjoyed my time there. The staff was wonderful! I will definitely be making another trip soon!

stayed here recently with some friends and let me tell you. i would not choose any other location in tahoe than tahoe city and at the tahoe city inn.

the hotel has recently undergone renovation and the rooms are super! some have heart shaped jacuzzi tubs and ours had a great VIEW of the lake! they also had this great breakfast area in the morning where it looked directly out at the lake itself. the location is magnificent. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to enjoy tahoe's FINER BEAUTY!

We just stayed at this motel for the Fourth of July weekend. It was awful!
To start with, they did not have our reservation when we called the night before. We were supposed to have two rooms. They said that they had a "suite" available if we would like it. Since it was the night before and there weren't going to be any other rooms available we said sure. When we got there and saw the "suite" we were extremely dissapointed. What a dump. It looked like they went to Goodwill and got a bunch of ramdom furniture and put it in there. There was an unlocked door that went into their machine shop where we could hear them making a considerable amount of noise. They put a small piece of furniture in front of it to keep it secure, um ok. The only lighting was overhead fluorescent that all turned on with one switch. There were no other light sources in the room, no bedside lamps or anything. The bathroom was incredibly inconvenient. The only place to plug in a hair dryer was on the wall farthest from the mirror, which wasn't over the sink. It was obvious that the shower floor was painted shortly before our arrival as it smelled like paint and as we showered rubbed off.
For how much they charged for this "Room" we should have had something much nicer.
This place was so ghetto, I would never ever reccomend it to anyone, ever. I truly believe that this room is not normally used for guests and was just thrown together the night before so they could make extra money after they screwed up and lost our reservation.
DON'T STAY HERE!

We are sorry to hear you were disappointed with your stay, but we appreciate your input for future reference. Our Jacuzzi tubs are a fun and quirky perk to our rooms, although we understand they are not for everyone. We do offer rooms with a standard standing shower as an alternative. Our weekend breakfast was enhanced in mid June to include seasonal fruit, pastries and much more! We are the choice motel for families, couples and businesses on a budget and we will continue improving all we have to offer.

This is the first time that TripAdvisor has really let me down. I usually agree with the consensus opinion, but not with this property. I cannot understand why this lodging received such a high ranking. It's inexpensive, but not a good value.

Our Deluxe King room (#19) in this former "Adult Motel" featured a large pink heart shaped tub adjacent to the bed. They call it a "Jacuzzi," but there a no jets of water, just cold air bubbling noisily from the bottom, further cooling the tepid water from the tap. The shower nozzle is of the hand held variety. The bathroom has a toilet, wall sink with no vanity, a mirrored medicine cabinet, and a towel rack. That's all--no shower, no hair dryer, no hooks to hang anything.

The room has a flat screen TV, VCR, microwave, coffee pot, tiny refrigerator, small table, 2 chairs, and an electric fireplace (nice touch), but the furnishings did not match. Windows had venetian blinds but no curtains. WiFi was $10/day additional charge. Insulation was poor--we could hear traffic noise and people talking in the next room.

Continental breakfast on Saturday was virtually non existent. Only 2 boxes of cereal, lactose free milk, OJ, coffee, and 4 slices of white bread were available. Desk clerk was unhelpful. Grocery store bagels and muffins plus regular milk were added on Sunday, but no fruit either day, not even apples or bananas.

The "partial lake view" meant we were able to see a tiny portion of the lake about 75 yards away by peeking between two buildings. Again, I'm puzzled by the positive reviews.

We went away for the weekend to get away. We had such a great time. They just remodeled part of the lobby. Cozy, comfortable. They provided drinks and dessert one evening. Fantasic continental breakfast that started at 8am not 0 dark 30. They left it out for a couple of hours. Great view of the Lake, walking distance from restaurants, lake, ski resorts (driving 10 minutes). We had a snow storm Saturday night and the staff was out working and shoveling and always with a smile. This place felt like home.

I had the most enjoyable few nights in tahoe which were made even more comfortable by staying at the tahoe city inn. Our room was huge, much bigger than I expected and a few essentials were provided in the room- even vitamins! Proximity to the slopes was great, and the staff were extremely helpful in advising us on how to make the most of our trip. After a long day of skiing it was lovely to get a film from the grand selection that was on offer, and relax in the jacuzzi!

I don't understand some of these negative reviews! Look, this place is not the Ritz Carlton but its a great value-- the rooms are clean, the tv's and tubs are big and the location is perfection. If you want the Ritz then pay the Ritz's prices--otherwise enjoy an extremely decent lodging run by the nicest people ever! And don't miss the VHS movie collection or the cozy fire-side lounge area!!
