“Great resort, but avoid the ski school for kids”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Have been coming here for more than a decade. Love the open views over the lake and the reasonably priced lift passes. The skiing is fun for intermediates and beginners, there's not much challenging for advanced skiers but that's fine by me as we go there for family fun. Dining facilities are average for Tahoe resorts (wish we had more like in Europe, but that's more than a 3 hour drive from home...). The ski school is terrible for young kids - no personal attention or understanding of the needs of younger kids. Went to pick up our son early one afternoon, he was sitting on his own, not wearing gloves. The instructor said "oh they might be indoors, some of them forget to put them on after lunch". WHAT? These are five and six year olds and the air temp is freezing. Sadly we've had this kind of experience too many times, over multiple seasons, for it to be just bad luck. We now go to other nearby resorts like Squaw if looking for ski school.

Hands down the best views of any ski area at Tahoe. And if you can keep a secret the best powder stash. But please don't tell anyone.

“The last of the great small ski resorts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2012

A favorite of all the locals. The views are to die for at the top of the runs. Great place to learn to snowboard. There is talk of this ski area being taken over by one of the giants so enjoy before a big corporation takes over.

“What a hidden secret”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2012

I have skiied at Homewood a couple times over the past few years and what a wonderful experience. I classify myself as a good to excellent recreational skiier and this mountain is perfert. It is a smaller ski area than some of its neighbors but so are the lift lines. A great value for your money and the best views of Lake Tahoe. Homewood appears to have a very nice ski / snowboard school as well as a rental shop.

“breathtaking views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2012

the winter of 2012 early wasn`t good for lake tahoe, we skiied at homewood on saturday after they had between 4 and 5 feet of new snow 2 days earlier. this is our favorite mountain because of the great conditions and views of the lake. the lift tickets are a bargain and the lift lines are non existant. i heard rumors that they are going to develop the mountain with condos and such so get there before it gets spoiled.
