Comfort Inn Sunnyvale - Silicon Valley

The room had vomit in the sink and dirty floors. They didn't bother to check it to see if it was cleaned before allowing a guest to enter! They quickly moved me to a new room but the floors were still dirty and the A/C was loud enough to wake me up every time it kicked on. You can't smell it or see its true appearance when booking via the internet.

Decided to book one night stay based on reviews. Took 2 of our grandchildren (ages 13 & 15) to Great America and wanted to relax afterwards. We certainly did. The motel was quiet, clean and the room spacious. Even though our room was on the first floor next to the parking it was quiet and we all had a good night sleep. Could not hear noices from rooms next to ours. Bathroom clean. Pool was also clean and there are tables available in the pool area for your use. They came in handy since we ordered pizza. The children enjoyed our stay there and at their ages it is an accomplishment when they do not complain about something (and they did not). Front desk helpful. No restaurant in site but there are a number of them close by.
Large parking area (free-included in room price).
Breakfast was included and the brunch consisted of cereals, breads, pastries, eggs, sausages, coffee, tea, juice, etc. We considered it quite satisfactory and enjoyed having a wide variety of choices. Will definite stay there again whenever in the area.

Let me say first I would stay here again if I was traveling on a tight budget.

You got the feeling that cosmetic and superficial repairs were being made but no real money had been put into the motel for years. As you entered the elevator, you notice the cracked tiles in the floor and the accumulation of grime on the threshhold. As you walk by the guest laundry, there is a hand-written out of order sign taped to the door. At your room you note that the door doesn't quit fit right and when you close it after entering, that you have to slam it to get it to close properly. Hallways are dark and are humid from the sheet laundry located on the 2nd floor that seems to run 16 hrs a day. The room itself was clean and the beds were comfortable. Bath/ sink area is small by todays standards.

On the positive, they had a very good breakfast with hot scrambled eggs, waffles, biscuits and sausage gravy, tater tots, bacon (one day) but be warned- it closes at 9AM on the dot! also internet access in the lobby w/ printer and free movies (but VHS tapes only - as i said no recent upgrades.)

The hotel can be tricky to find. You turn into Ross, then IMMEDIATELY right onto Widdell

One last note: CALL THE HOTEL DIRECTLY FOR THE BEST PRICE. You can save $10-20 over the best internet rate.

Our family stayed here a couple nights while in the area, based on TripAdvisor reviews. I had a bad feeling when we walked in the front doors and crossed a very warn rug that declared we were in the Quality Inn "Sunnyville" (instead of Sunnyvale). The carpets were a bit warn and our room's walls were totally bare, white walls. The neighborhood felt safe, the location good, and the price was great (70/nt)...but we would probably stay elsewhere next time.

Went with some 20 other work colleagues on a trade mission to Silicon Valley. Sure, the hotel was relatively close to companies in Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Mountainview and Palo Alto... but if you are trying to mix business and pleasure and go to downtown San Francisco at night, this place is not for you, even if you have a car. The staff were very friendly, even though the hotel itself wasnt very pretty. The breakfast served, however, was excellent.

We decided to take a short trip to the coast before school started up again so we planned a little jaunt up the northern coast to places we hadn't seen in a few years. We initially planned to stay in Los Gatos (one of our favorite historic towns with a great shopping district) but couldn't find a room on the weekend we were travelling. Turns out there was an arts festival going on...so, we ended up finding a room in Sunnyvale which is just a few minutes drive NE. We'd never been to Sunnyvale or this particular Quality Inn but since we only needed a hotel room for one night, we didn't think much of it.

We booked the room on-line and got the AAA rate which I thought was reasonable for the area. Check in was quick and effecient; the front desk clerk/manager was polite and professional and the lobby area was neat and tidy...so far so good. Then I was informed the back door card key lock didn't work and the only way into the hotel was through the front entrance. Our room was closer to the back of the hotel so it would've been quite a hassle to carry all our 'stuff ' through the front, across the pool patio and through several twisty hallways (the front desk clerk did not volunteer to have someone help us with our luggage). Thankfully our room was on the 1st floor. As it turned out however, another guest had propped open the back door which eliminated the inconvenience but then it had me wondering about security. The door was closed when we got up the next morning to go to the lounge for breakfast so I assume it was closed some time in the night but it didn't leave me with a very reassuring feeling.

The room in general was clean but very basic. The bed covers looked a bit tired but the sheets were crisp and clean and the pillows plentiful and comfortable. There was also a small microwave and fridge in the room. The bathroom, although clean, really needed a facelift. It looked like there had been some water damage to the door frame and the paint and wall paper were peeling in places. Cosmetic issues like these don't usually bother me too much especially if I'm just staying overnight but for the price of the room, there should not have been any 'cosmetic issues' and the back door should have been a repair priority.

The other irksome thing about our room were the motion detectors on the hall and bathroom lights. It was extremely annoying when we got up in the middle of the night to use the toilet only to activate the motion detector on the hall light...the main light for the room suddenly ( and blindingly) turned on and woke everyone up with a startle. The motion detector on the bathroom light was OK but it also turned on the very noisey fan...in the middle of the night! Of course, there was no way to de-activate them. All we could was turn the lights off manually. When I mentioned it to the front desk clerk upon check out, she said it was a security feature that was built in because there had been some break-ins in the past (but not recently)...hmmm, lovely!

The one very positive and surprising feature was the breakfast buffet. Usually you get coffee and a stale muffin or, sometimes, a waffle that has the texture of cardboard. However, here, we got an assortment of breads, bagels, pasteries, cereals (hot and cold), fruit and yogurt as well as real scrambled eggs, bacon and potatoes. The breakfast buffet was actually quite impressive and totally unexpected! The breakfast lounge looked like it had been newly renovated so maybe there's hope for the rest of the hotel.

The internet service was reliable and fast as well for those who like to bring laptops on vacation...not sure if they had a computer in the lobby, however.

If I needed a room for just a quick stop-over, I'd probably stay here again but for those who want a hotel to enjoy for its amenities, this is not the place. Not yet, at least.
