If you are looking for Soba (Buckwheat noodle), this is the place to go.
When I first stepped into this place, wow, wonderful atmosphere, very zen, relaxed and calming. The staff was warm and wonderful, some of the food I'm not too familiar with (like "cat-soo") were explained in great detail to me, which is good, since I have some particular allergies.
The prices were a little high, but fair enough considering the atmosphere of the restaurant. They even had private rooms for dining, looking like those japanese tea rooms. But, we just sat at a table, which was nice too. The window seat we got was nice because the windows were treated with a nice japanese look (wood framing with paper to appear like the room dividers or the walls of a traditional japanese house).
We ordered the special combo for two. I think it was about $36 or so, which is a pretty good price for what you get. My boyfriend was in shock, because we go to sushi restaurants like mad, and that was a super good price. We got miso, salad, tempura, sashimi and samplers of some things that looked like dumplings, skewered beef & chicken, as well as green tea ice cream. Also, try out the plum wine. It's a little pricy at about $5, but it has quite the exotic sweet taste that I rarely find in the american wines.
Now that I think about it, that is a pretty good price. I'm travelling, originally from Canada, and most sushi goes for about $25 USD per person. It also tastes really nicely for the price, you don't get skimped on flavour luckily. However, I'm not a fan of sashimi, so, I can't really comment on that dish.
I'm looking forward to going back there again, I'll try the sushi the next time instead of the sashimi and let you all know how it is.
