“Great place to have a family and friends weekend!”
Reviewed February 20, 2012

We have been staying at the Cabins at Strawberry on Presidents Day Weekend for probably the past 10 years. The cabins are very large with a large living room with sofa sleeper, TV and gas fireplace, large kitchen table with 6 chairs, huge kitchen with basic dishes and pots and pans and 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths. You can walk up to the Strawberry Hotel for a meal or drinks and walk across the street to the Strawberry Store if you forgot an ingredient, but we usually cook in the cabin. There are no phones and wi-fi is spotty, but we fill the time skiing/snowboarding at Dodge Ridge, walking along the creek or just playing games and talking in the cabin. Mary and Brian Sutherland and Brian's mom are great hosts/hostesses and Brian clears out the snow with his tractor if we are lucky enough to get that much snow. The location is great for Dodge Ridge because you miss all the traffic coming up the mountain and Dodge Ridge is a great little resort that the kids feel like they own (can go anywhere). Dodge Ridge has lessons, a nice lodge for lunch, a nice bar to get a cold beer or a hot chocolate after skiing. I've heard that this area is beautiful in the summer, but I havent been there in the summer. Take your own pots, pans, knives, etc. if you need something special for whatever you are cooking, but there are random pots and pans in the cabin. The towels are a little thin, but adequate for the purpose of the trip. Minimal housekeeping is required in each cabin upon leaving. We have stayed at many other cabins in this area and have decided the Cabins at Strawberry are the best!

Room Tip: Recommend cabins C, D, or E - others may have a path to carry all your stuff or stairs. Manzanita ha...

We were driving west on Sonora Pass and came upon the tiny burg of Strawberry. Hidden 50 yards down a little paved road, we saw a sign for Cabins at Strawberry.

What a lovely place! We arrived a day before the "season" was to start and rented a large cabin with all the amenities for under $150. The best part was the deck overlooking the river below. The owners were very nice and accommodating. The cabin was clean and very tidy. We only stayed one night, as we were still headed west, but would have liked to stay longer.

There are a couple of area restaurants, but not real close to the cabins. Cooking in the cabin looked like a great option. Eating dinner and breakfast on the spacious deck, a wonderful delight.

We would recommend these cabins to anyone, but take advantage of all the space and bring a big group.

We moved from a nearby awful experience to this lovely cluster of cabins. The owners are fantastic, the cabins comfortable, bright, open and clean, and the price is absolutely right. Perfect for families. If you are going in the summer or peak ski time, I recommend booking sooner rather than later, as they seem to be pretty busy during high season.

We loved our stay! Cabins are reasonably priced and great if you have a large family or two families vacationing together. Kitchens are convenient and well-stocked. Strawberry is a cute little town and the Cabins are extremely close to Pinecrest Lake.
They also have an off-season special in the Fall and Spring--we are trying to come back then. I definately recommend this place.
