“It was better when it was a hole in the wall in downtown Stockton”
Reviewed April 30, 2012

Years ago Arroyo's Cafe was a shabby overly lit open room in a building near the tracks in downtown Stockton. It was in a neighborhood that felt slightly unsafe to be in after dark, but you felt the risk was worth it because the food was that good. Then they moved to a new location in a more upscale part of Stockton and somehow misplaced some of their recipes. That's my explanation for why the food went downhill when the restaurant moved uptown. It's no longer worth going out of your way to eat there.

“Very good”
Reviewed March 4, 2012

Very good food. They gave us extra tortillas at the end, so we could feed the ducks out in the pond outside. That was fun!

“Was better when it was downtown”

It's lost its flavor (literally and figuratively) since moving from downtown Stockton. Never enough sauce for the food

“Great Mexican food”
Reviewed February 17, 2012

The food was great. They have a deep fried quesadilla which the waitress recommended and it was great. The sides were tasty and the restaurant sits next to a lake. I will be back

“Always good and staff very accommodating”
Reviewed June 13, 2011

Our girls softball team often stays in Stockton for softball games. We almost always (unless the timing is bad) go to Arroyo's. Even when really busy, they find a way to accommodate our large group. Getting separate checks for each family is not a problem either. The food hasn't disappointed yet. I like the chicken enchiladas suiza with rice and beans. At $8.25 for dinner, it's not a bad deal. Reasonably priced - good food - nice staff!
