Travelodge San Francisco Airport North
Reviewed November 3, 2009

No words can accurately convey how very unpleasant staying in this motel was. There were relatively fresh blood stains on the ripped comforter. Everything (walls, carpet, drapes) was grimy and mysteriously stained. Had to sleep in my clothes and couldn't make myself take a shower in the morning for fear of having to use their towels. Would very strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

good clean room with fridge, microwave, free wireless right in the room, furnishing in good condition and shuttle to/from airport. It is 1/2hr by bus outside the city but the bus is right across the street # 292. takes you right into downtown. You can also take the BART from the airport but that's $8.10 one way and then you still need to get around downtown. Get a "passport" this will get you around the city in the muni and cable cars. You can get them downtown SF, 3 days for $18, but it does not include the bus into the city from motel. The price for this is $1.75 into city and $3.75 to get back. There is an IHOP on the property and other restaurants around the area. If you want a nice large coffee in the AM, go to the Chevron gas station, they have lots of different varieties of coffee and its very good. Staff are friendly and helpful but I did find that one tried to get me to buy the door-to-door shuttle to downtown which is $15 one way. Ok, if you don't have the time to travel by bus. I wanted to buy a bottle of wine but there's nothing close by. I took a taxi into the little town and it cost $14 there and back.

After one month traveling in Nevada/Utah/Arizona/Colorado/California we stayed two nights in San Francisco, took the BART to the airport and the shuttle to the hotel the night before we took our flight.
The room was clean and quite, the staff could have been more friendly, but still OK.

Wouldn't exactly spend my holiday here, but the best solution for an airport hotel with a good connection to the city.

Hard to characterize this place - but let me say at the outset I'm a fan. I have stayed there numerous times, never paying more than $55 a night (and sometimes less than $40), and in San Francisco proper that's probably about as good as you can do. That being said, it is a little disquieting to go out to your car and find a pack of what appear to be feral cats roaming around; and there's a hunchbacked lady who appears to be weeping as she picks up trash around the property. And of course there's the TV in the room that gets fewer stations (and with less clarity) than that crystal radio you built back in high school. But did I mention it's less than 40 bucks!? Hard to find a place in the city at that price, and if you found one it would undoubtedly be in a very blighted/dangerous area. This motel, by contrast, is further from the city but out in the open in the midst of several other hotels, so it doesn't feel like you are particularly at risk staying there.

We stayed here as we are on a budget. I would not recommend this hotel if you do not have a car as it is a bit of a treck to the city centre. However, it is a stones throw away from the airport. The breakfasts are 'special' to say the least. Customers fight for a piece of toast and grab what they can. If you have some money then I recommend the i-hop that is next to the hotel. The rooms are OK and it was great that there was an internet conection. Great if you are on a budget, not so if you want a relaxing stay in San Fran.

WARNING!!!! This motel has BED BUGS! The rooms are dirty and smell of mold. The blankets on the beds have burn holes (in a non smoking room) The have huge stains on them. The mattreses are covered in bed bugs and rips. I wouldn't let my dog stay at this travellodge. The staff acted like it was no big deal! Take my advice Pay the extra go south on 101 and stay at the beautiful, remodeled clean bed bug free Best Western!

This hotel is perfect for somone who does not spend a lot of time in their room. My boyfriend and I booked our stay on-line and got a great deal for the amount of time we spent in the room itself. We basically used the room to sleep and shower. We were out of our room every morning by 8am to see the sights of San Francisco. From this hotel the city was convenient to get to (about 20 minutes by freeway). The room itself was outdated and the ventilation not so good, however, for us it was cheap and convenient. I'd much rather spend money on an expensive dinner or a theatre ticket.
