Michaels has a great location with a fabulous patio next to the Soqeul river. If its a warm morning Michaels opens at 11 AM for a late weekend brunch, the ambiance is amazing while the food is good the food could be improved a notch. I noted three birthday parties going as Michaels is a popular choice for locals to celebrate.

Aside for the delightful daytime patio action, Michaels appears to be an ideal place for drinks and tapas and must have quite the bar scene going in the evenings. The bar was chock full of patrons by 1 PM and is likely full till late.

Lunch on the deck overlooking the creek was wonderful...and probably only trumped by a meal on a warm evening under the little lights. My folks loved it! It always amazes me how peaceful a creekside setting can be in Soquel...even though Hwy 1 is less than a half-mile away!

The staffers were attentive and the service prompt, especially the bar staff. The salads we enjoyed (Roasted Beet and Corralitos Cobb) were beautifully plated, fresh and the dressings so savory. My dad enjoyed his burger, served with shoestring onions...very tender.

There was a mix of diners, including a family with young children. I thought the way their waiter engaged the youngsters was very good.

Service was slow. Maybe they were short-handed. The house salad was very good but one of the daily special entrees called "Eggplant Napoleon" was three slices of eggplant with seasoned tomato sauce and melted cheese. I'd call it eggplant pizza. The prix fixe menu included a dessert of chocolate mousse. It was served in a little red plastic cup and seemed like chocolate flavored whipped cream instead of mousse.

One of us ordered Chivas Regal but was told they had none so he ordered a different scotch. The scotch he ordered showed up on the bill, but so did the Chivas Regal.

The fried calamari appetizer was chewy and lacked seasoning. There are many better restaurants to choose from in Soquel.

in a very cozy atmosphere in the trees. We had been here for dinner before, which was great, but Michael also does a great job with special events. Dinners or receptions. Food was very tasty and nicely displayed. Service was exceptionally good: very attentive and friendly. Busy bar, with good happy hour prices. Whatever the occasion, you'll do fine here.

The food is spectacular - yummy oysters, cooked-to-perfection lamp chops, melt-in-your-mouth short ribs!! The waitstaff is excellent, especially Adam! I can't say enough wonderful things about Michael's on Main. They have beautiful outdoor dining, a small but wonderful bar where live music is played many nights of the week, and three beautiful dining rooms.

The food and waitstaff are hands-down better than some of the more popular restaurants in the Santa Cruz/Soquel/Aptos area.
