i found the staff to be exceptional in helping us. i forgot to mention that i had my knee replaced recently and was put in a room upstairs without an elevator. They were wonderful to move us t o a lower level room and to maker sure that we were comfortable. This hotel is located in a very convenient place to see many local attractions. We easily drove to Yosemite, Columbia Park, Calaveras Big Trees. We loved our stay there and highly recommend it.

Room Tip: The new section separate from the older main hotel. Quiet and private.

What a warm review of our hotel, our area and our team! We will share with the team. Although we do not have an elevator in this 3 diamond rated full-service hotel, we offer free luggage assistance to all our guests to/from you room, and we make accommodations for those that need first floor, whenever possible. We are pleased it worked out well for you.

We look forward to your next visit the the Best Western PLUS Sonora Oaks Hotel and Conference Center.

Very nice hotel. Highly recommend. Lovely room layout, very clean and quiet location. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Very helpful staff. Free computer access in Loby. Road to Yosemite from here is very twisty, but not too bad - a little over an hour.

We travelled across America staying at 15 different Motels, the room here was the best if one of more expensive ones, we paid £65 huge room with settee very clean and comfortable.Staff at reception friendly and helpful.Only niggle was the attitude of staff at diner when asked for HOT tea. Used google map for best route to Yosemite do not use the Wards ferry Rd, one of the most scary roads we have been on and we have driven all around the world, it is a single track mountain rd ,no turnarounds and God nows what would have happened if we had met something coming the other way

There is some very good advice in your review of our hotel. Just stick to the main roads, unless you know the area. Our county is 65% National parks and forest, with lots of back roads. The main highways are 108 and 120. Paved, popular and safe. “Wards Ferry” is a one lane road that even locals do not use much. Great for accessing the Tuolumne River for river rafters and fishermen, but it is scary.

We hope others learn from your experience with webmaps. Many wrongly guide visitors to the same road you drove. As you know now, there are many great modern, safe mountains roads. A few are winding, but they certainly have amazing views. We will pass on your comments about the “hot tea” to the on-site restaurant, today. Thank you for rating us as “One of the Best” hotels on your trip.

If you are looking for a good hotel close enough to Yosemite and the Gold Country then this hotel is a good option. On our three week road trip my husband and I had driven from the Napa Valley arriving late afternoon and have to admit that we had a bit of difficulty finding the hotel. It is about 2 1/2 miles out of Sonora. However once we got there the reception staff were very friendly and we got settled into our room quickly. We had booked a deluxe king bed Junior Suite which was on the upper floor (there is no lift so you have to carry your luggage up one flight of steps. The room overlooked Hess Avenue but although it was quite close to the road we really did not hear any noise from traffic. The room was nice and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom area was typical of a Best Western. We drove back into Sonora in the evening. It is a nice little town but very quiet at night. We ate in the Diamond Back Grille which I would recommend - friendly service with good food in large portions. Unfortunately the adjacent wine bar was closed on the night that we were there (Monday evening). As mentioned by previous reviewers on check in to the hotel you receive a voucher for breakfast in the on site restaurant. We both found the voucher adequate for breakfast and my cooked breakfast was quite good.

After a long and winding drive this was a happy and welcome sight. We were with a group but were having difficulties with organising an extra flight and accomodation. The hotel reception staff were extremely helpful and made our task an easy one. Special thanks to Rachelle whose computer wizadry made things far more pleasant for us.
We were rested and were refreshed after a good night's sleep. The room was quite large, comfortable, clean and quiet! Just what we needed.

As with other reviewers we stayed here visiting Yosemite. The hotel is lovely, if a little out of the way of anywhere...a nice small pool with which my wife enjoyed. The rooms are large and have everything that is needed. A fridge for keeping bottles of water cool and a really nice beds.

This would have an excellent if it was not for the next door diner. With check in they provided us a blue slip which offered us a free drink with the meal. We thought a result. It specified "a american beer" which when we looked at the menu there were three or four. We asked for a nevada ale, only to be told it was rolling rock was only on the deal- this did not put me in the best of moods!

The service is prompt and with a smile. The food is, trying to be polite- poor. Very little thought put in to it.

The complementary breakfast with the fruit and coffee in the morning was again prompt and served with a smile. As long as you dont ask for subsitutions!

The breakfast was great for going to explore the Yosemite that day.

The second night we got a cab to Sonora town centre for a much better meal and experience. The cab is only $10 each way and well worth it. The old town centre is certainly a little more alive and atmostoheric.

As for being close to the Yosemite- watch out as its a good hour and half drive to Yosemite!

We stayed here for our trip to Yosemite National Park. The rooms are clean and spacious. We enjoyed the heated pool and the hot tub. Kathy at the front desk was especially friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good, it's a complementary sit down meal at the adjoining restaurant.
Everyone was very nice and overall a very pleasurable stay. Would definitely stay again.
