“What a gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 24, 2012

We've been going to the " Taste of the Himalayas" since it opened...we love our Indian food and this is a great twist on it. Terrific apps and I go for the dinner portion at lunch to finish later. The staff are welcoming and charming with a great wine list. The garlic cilantro naan is terrific and we always get a side of mixed pickle to really heat it up. Delighted to have this lovely place right off the square..

“Very good food in a hidden Sonoma restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2012

I have lived in Sonoma for several years and have been to a good number of the restaurants. Somehow it had escaped me that there is a great Indian restaurant here. My wife and I loved our meal at Taste of Himalaya. The decor and the music are great while the service was pretty good. It is a very small restaurant and there was one loud group there so it was hard to have a great atmosphere. The lamb appetizers and main courses were great and the medium level of spice for the curry was just right. It was spicy, but not so much that it distracted from the flavor. The naan bread was great and the soup was surprisingly good. There were only two desserts on the menu and they didn't have one of them the night we were there, but the rice pudding was good. The prices were good. After appetizers, main course, desserts, and non-alcoholic drinks, our bill with the tip was 70 dollars, which made for a much better deal than many of the other restaurants on the square. We will go back and bring people with us!

“Nice little place”

Some of dishes excellent -- such as the crushed samosa appetizer and sag paneer. Some others, not as good. Sevice was good.

“Good vegetarian options. Great service. Decent price.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 30, 2011

Small, cozy restaurant serving Indo-Nepalese-Tibetan food. The sag paneer, chana masala, & naan were good. the veggie momo was too spicy. Service was fast, friendly, and good.

“Impressive affordable authentic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2011

Glad we stumbled on this gem located down an alley next to a few other great businesses. We sat outside on a comfortable Saturday night, which made for great people watching. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They had a great selection of reasonably-priced local wines. The unique and somewhat familiar flavors found in himalayan cuisine strike the palette from the traditional Himalayan soup, continuing with the warm, delicious naan bread and culminating in an unforgettable entree. The food was delicious, coupled with the friendly, attentive service. I would highly recommend it.
