Stayed two nights on our stop in Sonoma and had a great time. Hotel is within walking distance of all of downtown Sonoma. Stayed in a second floor room which was quite large. There were some folks at the pool being loud but they complied with the signage and left at 10 pm so we got a good nights sleep. Breakfast was in the conference center behind hotel and the selection was good. They had complimentary Starbucks coffee in the lobby for guests. Was hoping to stay in a B&B but the prices were too high. Best Western turned out to be a really good choice. We had the most fabulous weather while there...and the best surprise of all was the farmers market at the city square. Not your average farmers market but a huge market with traditional farm stands, craft stands and oodles of food options. Music on the grass was really good. Just a very pleasant evening. Consider grabbing a sandwich from Basque Boulangerie Cafe for your day trip-great place.

Room Tip: 2nd floor was a good choice but I'd guess the ground floor was good too.

Last minute decision to stay one night in downtown Sonoma. Booked on-line via Best Western, and their rate beat several other hotel sites. Room was huge (king size bed) with fireplace; near pool area (which I did not use). Bathtub came in handy to soak in after a long day of hiking. Across street from Whole Foods! Big breakfast area in conference center type area. Lots of hot and cold options.

Great hotel. Not your typical best western. Walking distance to downtown and the square. Nice ambiance outdoor space with hot tub and spa. Outdoor entrance to rooms. No elevator for second stairs. Rooms were very large. Nice chair space in front of the fireplace which comes with firestarter block and matches for your convenience. Breakfast was good with wide selection of hot and cold. We did the trolley wine tour which picked us up and dropped us off right at the hotel.

Don't let the name Best Western fool ya. They have about 6 Suites in the back that are first class wine country relaxing. We stayed there 2 nights and really enjoyed the in room 2 person spa tub. There were 2 flat screen TVs in the very large room. 1 for the bed and 1 for the couch seating area.
There is a shopping center right across the street with Whole Foods in it. You can walk to great eating spots and shops in the little down town. And the Trolley wine tour picks up there if you like. We went on the Trolley and it was great to.
We will stay here again just to relax and enjoy the surroundings.

Room Tip: We had the corner room which was nice.

After reading some unfavorable reviews, I was a little unsettled about this place after I purchased a 2-night stay her through Groupon. I was completely satisfied and happy with this property. It is within walking to all the town square area. The rooms were comfortable and very nice. The pool/spa area was great. We enjoyed the wine area during the day and enjoyed sitting in the spa in the evening. The breakfast was very good also. The front desk was friendly and helpful. My only complaint was they only had one single - serving coffee in the room and we had to go to front desk or breakfast room for another each morning. Pretty minor really.

My husband and I recently stayed at this hotel with friends for four days while on a road trip to the Sonoma/Napa valleys. I live in Europe and have stayed in Best Western hotels all over the world, generally finding them excellent. The room was certainly great - spacious and clean, with a nice fireplace. There was a so-so pool and hot-tub, and the location - a 5-minute walk from the town square - was very convenient indeed. But imagine our shock when we had breakfast on the first of our three mornings, having paid $349 plus tax for a weekend night, and we found PLASTIC plates, CHEAP PLASTIC knives and forks (my fork broke off while I tried to cut into the pancake that came out of an AUTOMATIC PANCAKE MACHINE!!!) and CARDBOARD cups for our tea and coffee! Even youth hotels and the cheapest of cheap hotels in Europe use proper china and silverware! Come on, Best Western!!!!! You can do better than this, especially for $350+ a night!!!!! Secondly, when we checked in, we were told there would be a wine tasting in the evening organized by one of the local vintners. We came back early especially for these, but were told in a rather off-hand manner than no, it had been cancelled at the last minute! A professional, client-oriented hotel would at least have gone out and bought a few bottles of wine to treat their guests to. The problem was that the reception staff, although on the surface certainly very friendly, were obviously NOT proper hotel staff with a decent hotel training background, but simply people filling a job. Shame, Best Western! Train your staff better!

Dear ateach52,
Thank you for choosing our hotel as the home base for your road trip and then taking time to review us. I was pleased to hear you enjoyed your room and found the location to be very convenient.
However I am very sorry you did not enjoy your breakfast. We are constantly trying to find ways to upgrade the breakfast and have recently added several more items in an effort to provide more options although we do have some limitations due to the lack of having a full kitchen. I am sorry you did not enjoy the pancakes.
Regarding the wine tasting, unfortunately the winery we had scheduled called us at the very last minute to let us know they were not coming. We had confirmed with them the day before. Our insurance does not allow for us to pour the wine ourselves or to leave bottles out for guests to help themselves. Again, I am sorry that the wine tasting did not happen, I am sure that this was something that you and your friends were looking forward to.
Best Regards
Kendall Comfort
