We were a party of 7, from 3 different places; celebrating my Grand-Daughter's arrival at Sonoma State University. She had been in the Sonoma Plaza before, with her friend who was a student at the Culinary Institute in St. Helena. Her parents and her brother from Irvine CA, and we two from Yountville/Napa. We had scouted the Plaza for dining and saw a man placing a menu in a showcase on the door of a restaurant called Harvest Moon. Somehow we agreed that this was the place for us and we came back a half hour later when the establishment opened for business. (They were in the interval between Lunch and Dinner.)
When out turn came we were ushered past several tables and into the garden behind the building. A tiny entrance becomes a large open yard where about 20 parties could sit. The outside dining is surrounded by masonry walls or buildings, the surface is decomposed gravel. It was a pleasant area. Our host rousted enough seats for us and handed out the menus. Liquid Refreshments were ordered, the 3 drivers passed, had colas or soft drinks. The youngest of the party was 19, Harvest Moon serves a Chardonnay Flavored drink and he liked that. We did not know but each day has a different menu, we all ordered something du Jour that arrived reasonably soon and we got busy. It was a meal that all enjoyed. We liked the idea that small pieces of bread were brought, many folk spoil their appetite by porking out on the bread but we did not. Night fell, pretty colored party lights came on and it was splendid.
My son paid the bill - Splendid!
We have not gone back, too many other places to sample.
Parking is ample, lots behind the establishment are available in the evenings, there are many places behind the State Park on the N side of the Plaza.
We recommend Harvest Moon to anyone tolerant of local cuisine and not too demanding (There is no 'French Laundry' here) to be pleased by anything.
