“Nice restaurant with great food, but business can effect service.”
Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

We stay in the hotel attached to the restaurant. We had breakfast here every morning and the buffet is very consistent with great food. One of the nights after a long day with lots of wine tasting we decided to stay near by for dinner. Reservation was not easy to get and we had to wait for a call back to fit us in. All tables were taken. The food was great. We had the pizza and each one of us had a different dinner plate. Each one was amazing and we have nothing but amazing reviews of the food. The service on the other hand lack genuine attention. Our service seemed nice and was quick to stay yes to all our request but didn't come through with out us having to ask a second time. It is unfortunate because its a great place. I would highly recommend it and would recommend to the facility to hire more back up table staff.

“An unexpectedly amazing hotel food experience!”
Reviewed December 20, 2012

We were in wine country the first weekend of December (a surprisingly beautiful and relaxed time to be there!), and spent two nights at The Lodge at Sonoma, a Marriott Renaissance property. Lucky for us we decided to eat on property the first night at Carneros Bistro and Wine Bar. We like sitting at the bar, and were lucky again that this bar is in a more intimate restaurant section (the restaurant has several eating areas and another busier bar) AND we were seated with an upfront view of the busy chefs. What a delight it was to watch our Argentinian born chef cook, the Charleston/Chicago experienced Chef de Cuisine oversee, the salad chef diligently work, and the grill chef grill! We had already tasted the creamy butternut squash soup (with candied bacon, and maple syrup flavors) at a free wine tasting in the lobby, so my husband ordered the cauliflower soup which he describes as delicate but punched full of flavor with an even foam like consistency. He also had a grilled caesar salad --what great grilled flavor and dressing! Bothe were good portions. I had a hard time deciding what to order from the great selections (and I didn't want a big meal) and settled on the mussels. A hefty portion in a delicious broth with crusty bread--it was perfect. We had great wine-by-the glass selections as well. The next evening, after another traveling day in wine country and fun lunch at Diavolo in Geyserville, we knew we wanted to go back to 'our spot'. This time we HAD to order what we watched Chefs Petro and Andrew preparing the night before--the succulent leg of lamb marinated sous vide but cooked stove top, with out of this world mushroom risotto. We split the rich dish and don't know if we'll ever have anything like it again until we return...it was absolutely tender, perfectly seasoned and a real treat. Prior to the meal my husband had the soup again, and I had a beautiful and delicious beet salad with the best dressing. Our service both nights was excellent. We also met the Executive Chef Peter Smith, and complement him on his cohesive team--friendly, professional, and very talented!

“Excellent Food Excellent Service”

Only had breakfast there, but the service and food quality were top notch. They start you with a complimentary strawberry smoothy in a small glass and a mini pumpkin muffin whcih was a nice touch.

“Good dining, awesome atmosphere.”
Reviewed December 11, 2012

We dined at Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar, once for breakfast and once for lunch. We found it to be pricey, but typical of a hotel restaurant. The food was really good. It was a convenient place to eat because we were staying at the Lodge at Sonoma. There are better places to eat at Sonoma Plaza however.
