We stayed at The Lodge recently and walked the few short steps to the Carneros Bistro for dinner or appetizers a few times during the week. The food was amazing, fresh, and just the ticket after a day of wine tastings. We sat at the bar a few times and talked to the chef manning the wood fired oven. He was very friendly and made good suggestions on other places to hit during the week or on our next visit. The only reason I didn't rate this restaurant as excellent is the wood fired pizza came highly recommended but we were greatly disappointed. However, I think we are spoiled because we have a fantastic coal fired pizza place down the street from us back home. Regardless, we will definitely go back next time we are in Sonoma (heirloom tomato salad and fig/peach arugula salad here we come)

Enjoyed two breakfasts and a lunch. Very friendly service and a nice menu for both meals. I had a "boring" breakfast (cholesterol) but watched my counterparts scarf down Eggs Benedict, Brioche French Toast and Huervos Rancheros. Everyone prounounced their meals delicous. For lunch, I took the recommendation of the Halibut Tacos - good call. Very fresh and light with homemade corn tortillas.

We ate here and decided to be casual and split a few things at the bar. It was great because we watched the chefs do the pizzas and put in the brick oven. Gave us some good entertainment.
They had a local winery in there giving wine tastings. That was nice on the way out...
We split the steak and asparagus soup. Both amazingly good!! Just the right smount of food for the two of us.
Bar tender was working very hard, not slacking at all. Sometimes it was hard to get his attention though, but otherwise good service.

We were staying at the Lodge hotel next door and ate here on a whim after deciding we were way too relaxed to go to the town square. The interior is very nicely decorated but still casual enough that we didn't feel out of place in our tourist attire. We both started with the mussels which were huge and very well seasoned. I had the halibut with peas, heirloom tomatoes, and a lovely sauce. My husband had the lamb chops with quinoa and they were perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy. We were too full for dessert but the did offer a good selection.
The service and food were top notch and well worth the price we paid.
