We arrived to a really warm welcome and the pictures that we had seen on the internet that made the place look so great came to life as we walked around the estate. the room was everything we had wanted and expected and then some more. it was only a few minutes walk into the Sonoma square where we could shop and eat. the best way to express our stay was total relaxation. i loved the sound of the water in the evening outside the room and we really enjoyed the peace and tranquility that the seating around the gas fire had to offer.

This place is gorgeous! Very tranquil, owners made us feel so welcome and room was just lovely - very romantic! We even had a basket of pastries left outside our door in the morning. Could not fault this place, it's an absolute gem!

As we pulled into the driveway, Faye, the owner, came out to meet us, and was quite gracious and charming. Since we had mentioned that we were celebrating our 50th anniversary, she had upgraded us from the more modest room we had requested to the Studio Suite. We had a beautiful apartment with full kitchen and a dining table set with dishes, glasses, silverware, fruit, and flowers. There is a large, inviting, and very comfortable bed as well as a sofa in the room, and a private dressing area separate from the bathroom. The walls are white stucco and the fireplace has a rounded opening, which reminded me of New Mexico. The fireplace logs, instead of being burned, have rows of long-lasting tea candles embedded in them and made a delightful fireplace effect in the evening – without causing any pollution.

We had our own private patio with chaise lounges. The patio is landscaped in a Zen fashion with areas of pea gravel and river stones, and is completely private, surrounded by a tall stucco wall enclosed with its own gate.

Faye had left a bottle of chilled Gloria Ferrer Blanc de Noir Champagne and an anniversary card for us. We asked for restaurant recommendations and she suggested La Salette, a Portuguese restaurant, and made reservations for us. Since the inn is so close to town, the restaurant was right down the street and a wonderful choice.

We enjoyed our champagne on the patio and then walked to La Salette for dinner. Next to the B&B is a Franciscan mission, the northernmost of the California missions. The Spanish barracks face the plaza on one side. It is a very historic town.

Breakfast service in this spa differs from other B&Bs. Rather than traipse to a central dining room (and chat with strangers), we had breakfast at the table in our own room. There were two kinds of cereal in the cupboard, tea and coffee, juice, milk, and cream in the refrigerator. On the table was a bowl with bananas, cherries, and apples. In the morning, a basket of croissants and muffins wrapped in cloth napkins was to be found hanging on the patio gate. We enjoyed eating in our robes.

Our stay at the Cottage Inn was the highlight of our trip, which in addition to the wine country also included a stay at The Fairmont in San Francisco.

Room Tip: The Studio Suite was fantastic, but I can't imagine that there is a bad room in the place!

This is our fourth year in a row staying at The Cottage Inn and Spa, and we couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. Faye has created a beautiful, relaxing haven. It feels as though you are in a mountain retreat, though only steps from all the shops and restaurants. Faye and staff have created a beautiful retreat and cure for the soul. Love, love, love!

My husband and I just returned from a trip where our last and final stop was three days in Sonoma and Napa. I must say we saved the best for last! In celebration of our 14 year anniversary we chose to spend three days at the Cottage Inn and Spa while we toured wine country. We couldn't have chosen a better location. From the moment you arrive the staff is attentive and hospitality abundant. If you have an opportunity, please request their spa services! Willow and Lauren are excellent massage therapists, very thoughtful and caring - catering to ensure you receive a first class service. The rooms all very charming, feel like home and very clean. Refrigerator supplied with a few items to make you feel welcomed and freshly delivered pastries each morning at 8 am to compliment your morning coffee. We stayed in two rooms during our stay, the Fountain View and North. We enjoyed the fireplaces in both rooms and found the outside courtyard at the Fountain View a lovely place for morning coffee and reading. The staff is so helpful and accommodating, but also caring about you wanting to enjoy your visit. They are helpful in assisting with recommendations on dining, wine tours, helping you navigate the area. You can not go wrong in selecting this gem of an inn for your stay! We will be back and bringing our friends next year!

This was our first time staying in the town of Sonoma. The Cottage Inn, Faye and her staff exceeded our expectations in all ways. The room and ambiance was wonderful. I loved the tropical paradise that was outside of our room! It was great being able to walk to town. We would definitely stay here again.

My wife and I stayed at the Cottage Inn for two nights, as a base for exploring wine country. Quaint and quiet, the property is thoughtfully laid out with each room different and very private. The property was developed and designed in Mission style with rooms located around two courtyards, private patios and outside tables for having your glass of wine alfresco.

A big plus for the Cottage Inn is its location. The beautiful Plaza (town square) of Sonoma is a block away. Restaurants, wine tasting rooms and boutiques ring the square and if you're lucky enough to be there on a Tuesday the Farmers' Market (live music, wine, picnic baskets) is an absolute must. We loved Sonoma and the Cottage Inn and highly recommend it for couples.

Room Tip: They're all good. The Courtyard is small but perfect for the needs of a couple for one or two ni...
