“A unique and beautiful place!”
Reviewed January 29, 2013

It's hard to imagine a more perfect place to stay. I was in the South Room, which was warmly lit with its fireplace that opens to both the living room area and bedroom. The jacuzzi bath was divine and the king bed incredibly comfortable with a warming mattress pad. I spent a night at the inn with friends and we enjoyed time spent around the crystal "fire pit" in the inner courtyard. Everything about the Inn is unique and beautiful. The staff, especially the owner Faye, are so welcoming and gracious. I had a massage with Kathryn that left me incredibly relaxed. Although I only spent one night, I felt as though I'd been away on a longer vacation as the experience of being there was so satisfying and rich. The warm pastries from Crisp Bakery that appeared outside my door in the morning were a "sweet" final touch to a lovely stay.

I had a wonderful stay at The Cottage Inn to celebrate a birthday with a group of friends. We took tours of all of our rooms and each one was different, but each was warm, inviting and special. I was in the Vineyard View, upstairs. The architecture had a southwestern feel with the plastered walls, dramatic fireplace, beautifully finished tiled floors and warm natural wood beams. The window over the fireplace looked out on the treetops and the nearby hills. The huge barn doors opened in the other direction to look out over the town of Sonoma. The room was stocked with good coffee, teas, OJ, all the plates and glasses to enjoy the pastries that are delivered to your door in the morning. The Sonoma town square and Sonoma Mission are just a block away with shops, restaurants, delis, bakeries. You could stay here and not have to drive your car. Faye and Katherine made all of us feel right at home!

My wife and I stayed here two years ago for our 25th anniversary. We enjoyed it, so it was our choice for a return visit to the area in November 2012. The inn was better. Our favorite room, which is off the outer courtyard, had new carpeting and, my guess, new wallpaint. Also, no tv! Who needs it? The refrigerator had fresh milk, oj, water, butter, jellies and the two-person table was set with plates and silverware, wine glasses, etc. We stayed three days. Each morning promptly at 8 a.m. fresh pastry was delivered to a hook on the door. We walked two blocks to Vella Cheese for snacks to bring back. We walked many blocks to Sonoma Market for take-home deli treats. We walked everywhere -- Sebastiani vineyards are figuratively out the door; Ravenwood Winery is about a two-mile walk. The inn gives you a list of places for free tasting in the region, and we probably had $60 to $80 worth of free wine, although that was barely a fourth of the list. The inner courtyard is quite romantic with a firepit and bench seats to have your wine and snacks at night. We shall return.

Room Tip: Prices vary widely. We didn't need a big room because we weren't in it much, so the small co...

The Cottage Inn and Spa is the magical place to stay in Sonoma. We were there recently with a group of friends. After a picnic dinner in the Paradisio courtyard, we sat around the fire pit and swapped stories from the cushy comfort of the tall stone double-chairs. Pastel flames from the bed of glowing crystals transported us all back to younger days with the camaraderie of camp-fires as Faye’s and Tom’s warmth created an atmosphere of at-home hospitality. My husband and I both wished we had more time there to luxuriate in the amenities of the Mission Room—that sweet private garden, spacious room, and a kitchen you could actually cook a meal in! We just wanted to stay and soak up the tranquil mood and beauty of this very special B&B. It’s a definite “go back to” place.

Room Tip: The Mission Room was commodious - we loved its porch in the front of the Inn.

Wonderful continental breakfast hung on your door every morning. Charming, romantic, beautiful attention to detail. We really felt taken care of. Close to shops and some great restaurants. We usually go to Napa and Sonoma was fun for a change- definitely a bit more laid back. The inn staff gave us a lot of helpful advice about which vineyards to visit in town and the surrounding area.

My wife and I had a massage upon getting to Sonoma. Great friendly service, value and people. Would highly recommend against an upscale, impersonal resort.

We were worn out when we arrived to Sonoma. We had a private room and both masseuses listened to what we needed. The room was very beautiful and private. We were running late and the whole team at Cottage stayed waited for us as our appointment was at 5:00. It was a thorough, relaxing and professional experience.

Cottage Inn was highly recommended to us by some friends who had been before. We would do the same if any of our friends headed out that way.

My fiance and I have traveled to wine country quite a bit over the last two years, and the Cottage Inn and Spa is by far our favorite get away location. We sometimes stay somewhere else either to be more closely located to Napa Valley wineries, or just to try something new. Pretty much whenever we do, though, we wish we'd stayed at the Cottage Inn & Spa.

The rooms are each unique, but even the smallest of them is a totally comfortable space for a couple. The spaces aren't the most modern you can find, but the layout of the rooms is always quite thoughtful and comfortable, the cleanup and maintenance of the room is completely unobtrusive and the pastry baskets which are left each morning as part of the breakfast option are not to be beat.

The staff has also always been beyond friendly in their willingness to accomodate our trips in every way they can.

My fiance and I highly recommend the place.
