Description: Fresh, Inventive Mediterranean and Iberian Cuisine in the heart of the Sonoma Valley Wine Country. Seafood and Portuguese Cuisine are our specialties. We offer a unique variety of fresh local and imported seafood specials daily including whole fish. The seafood selections on our menu are complimented by a variety of meat dishes ranging from the popular Pork Tenderloin stuffed with almonds, olives and figs to the, hard to find, Tripe Porto Style. Many of these dishes come steaming hot out of the wood-burning oven and fill the dining room with the exotic aromas of true Mediterranean cuisine. The menu reflects the commitment of Chef and Owner Manuel Azevedo to creating the unique culinary delights of his native Portugal and its neighbors. LaSalette Restaurant is proudly one of Zagat Surveys top rated restaurants in Sonoma. See our web site for the complete menu and a look inside our dining room, which features an open kitchen and decor that sends you back in time to old Lisbon.

Had a great lunch on the patio! I had a paella-type rice dish which was outstanding- a perfect lunch-sized portion with linguica, mussels, clams, and chicken. Husband had the pulled pork sandwich- he said the meat was very good, but said the sandwich was difficult to eat as such because the roll was very dry. For dessert, we shared the one with four frozen treats- port ice cream, strawberry ice cream, mango sorbet and apple vinho verde sorbet. All were fantastic and made on the premises. I definitely recommend outside lunching and would definitely go back.

“Loved it!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2010

I am of Portugese descent, so I was excited to see a Portugese restaurant in Sonoma. We don't have any here in San Antonio (If anyone wants to open one, we'll be glad to eat there!). It was delicious! I had the fisherman's stew, and it was heavenly. We also had a dessert that featured malasadinhas (miniature Portugese doughnuts), and it was tasty too. Lovely peaceful atmosphere as well.

“The food was good but...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2010

We had made reservations and they asked for a credit car number and warned us that 40$ was going to be charged on the card if we did not show. This is somewhat understandable for a busy Sunday lunch (13:45) but still quite unusual in my experience and felt rude. We had a nice round table for six when we showed up. However, the table was in the middle of the restaurant which, even at 2PM, was very busy. As a result, it was noisy with waiters running around for the entire meal (maybe a little understaffed). The kitchen is largely open to the dining area which made the atmosphere even more hectic and noisy. So much so that the waitress had to almost scream the specials at our table. Outside tables might be a better choice.
The food was good but also pricy. The presentation was very "nouvelle cuisine" and well done. However, my appetizer was rather small for for the price. You would think that an $11 dollar appetizer beet salad for lunch would include more than 5 slices and a little ball of cheese!? And it was ordinary. Others had more luck but generally small portions for the cost. I was relieved to see that the main plates were larger. We had the paella, the FEIJOADA, the sea bass (not me as they are largely over fished!), the pizzetta and the fresh fettuccini with scallops. All good but not mind blowing.
The service was generally adequate but not attentive. That may explain why 18% gratuity is include for "groups" of 5 or more. Annoying to me was the fact they gave out bread like if it were some rare commodity. We also received 5 of the 6 main plates at the same time but the 6th was very late. After a long awkward pause, we had to ask what was going on. Nice was the fact that they then brought a salad to the person waiting for her main course.
At the end of the day, for a nearly $300 lunch (with one $38 wine bottle, coffee, no desert, tax and the included 18% gratuity) for six (4 adults 2 children), I would have expected a nicer experience. We left there a bit disappointed but we had to agree that the food was good..

“Don't miss it if you're travelling in the Wine Country”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 17, 2009

Our party of 8 had lunch at La Salette over the Thanksgiving weekend. It was an absolutely wonderful experience. You can read more about the food and wine raves on other posts, all of which I absolutely agree with.
What I wanted to mention was that we had a Muslim friend travelling with us, and he is unable to eat pork products. However, he had ordered the paella, without checking that it was pork free (there is chorizo in it). However, the wait staff was gracious enough to redo the dish without the chorizo, at no extra charge, even though it was no fault of theirs. That is absolute stellar service indeed!
By the way, you must leave enough room for the decadent desserts. The Chocolate Fetish and Caramel Desire are simply too divine to pass.
