We enjoyed the diverse wine-country menu with fresh ingredients and creative combinations. The atmosphere is casual and friendly on one of the main streets on the Square in Sonoma. We enjoyed a great lunch on our first day in town and also went back for after-dinner drinks and dessert on the next day.

Service was not the best but food was awesome. Get the steak tartare appetizer!! Loved the duck confit and the wild salmon was great.

We were a party of 5 adults and 2 nine yr olds. We had reservations. (a must!) We arrived on a beautiful Friday afternoon @ 2:30pm. First off, we were greeted with the nicest smile and cheery voice asking us if we wished to be seated inside or outside. We chose the outside patio, which had wonderful sun-kissed yellow umbrellas and a delightful atmosphere...great for a group with younger kids. The best waiter in years of eating out, was Esteben, from Argentina. He knew how to strike up a good conversation about the food, what the history was, and steered us to the plates made for our palates. We enjoyed the sardines, grilled just right. We also tried the special crab meat sandwich of the day, ridiculously delicious! Lastly, we had the large, plump,1lb of mussels in a wine based broth/sauce, also excellent. We only wish there was more bread served with the mussels to soak up all of that scrumptious broth/sauce. We highly recommend The Works appetizer. It has a wonderful assortment of meats, and we included 3 cheeses with fig and nuts. accompaniments.

We came to The Girl & The Fig after recommendations from friends. The ambiance was great, very quaint in the heart of downtown Sonoma. Service was wonderful. I thought the food was just OK for the price, and my husband felt the same. However, I would still recommend this restaurant to friends and family in the future. We had a great time afterwards walking around downtown, grabbing a glass of wine, etc.
