On a recent trip to Sonoma we had dinner at this restaurant based on the recommendation of our hotel and some of the reviews which we found they were mixed. We had an early reservation and were seated right away, our server was nice and the service was ok. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. We thought it was over priced for what we got. My husband ordered the scallops as an entree, it more like an appetizer just a handful of frisée, 3 scallops and a some slices of cooked potatoes. I ordered the fish meunière with spinach, capers and mashed potatoes which were cold. Fish over cooked. Very small portions. Dessert was okay but not something with the wow! factor. We will not go back again.

We have been here for Brunch after hearing a lot about this restaurant. But not impressed. We did not have a reservation but somehow managed to get seating in the bar area. The service was OK the lady at the reservation desk was disinterested and almost rude, and food was AVERAGE. We were three of us and ordered 3 entrees but only one was good. I ordered french toast and it was so bad, I can make better french toast at home. It was expensive, mediocre food. Overall waste of money and time in my opinion.

Right at the edge of the Sonoma Square, The Girl and the Fig is in an ideal spot. It is a small restaurant, always packed, and reservations are recommended all year round. The wait staff are attentive and knowledgable, and oh the menu is out of this world.

There are interesting pairings for all palates, something for everyone in the veggie* greenie* soup&salad* upscale entree categories. The desserts and cheese bar are fabulous. This is one restaurant that feels like a dining experience ... old hardwood and big windows that spill in the light, high ceilings and antique ceiling fans, it is a great place to rest your feet and linger as you watch the locals come and go.

Portions are decent but not too large. It was an enjoyable stop.

We had 10 people dining on a Sat night- with reservations. Had a long table tucked inside wall and a bit crowded, but service was great. Restaurant is lively and offers all sorts of seasonal choices. We had brought wine, and server was on top of getting glasses. Cocktail list was also interesting. We also ordered some champagne from list, which was good.
The mussels were wonderful- 2 ordered full order for entre. Soup of day was chilled green onion & asparagus and was delicious on hot evening. Fig & arugula salad was also a hit.
2 ordered lamb - and found sausage part a tiny bit salty. Mentioned to waitress & she immediately reported to kitchen. 2 ordered scallops that were seared perfectly.
Some tables were ordering cheese & wine pairings & I was intrigued with all the little different glasses that filled with red & white wines that were whisked by. I might try that next time for lunch!
I would go again for dinner or lunch. A great place to dine, off historic square in Sonoma.

We had been trying to make it into the girl & the fig the last couple times we have been to sonoma. this last weekend we finally made it in to brunch. It was very good. Everyone at our table had something different and everyone was very pleased. We all commented that we wanted to come back for dinner.
