Visited on a rare rainy day Delightful dining room with period photos lots of charm in this early 1900's hotel. Food was outstanding from chilli to chicken sandwich to shrimp Louie sandwich special. Menu had lots of options at surprisingly reasonable prices. Will visit again

Had lunch at the Swiss Hotel and sat on the patio area in the front of hotel. It was a beautiful day and I think out waitress was named Sharon. She was fun, attentive and friendly checking in on us often and visiting too as we enjoyed our lunch there. Food was very good.

Yes great, the waiters were excellent .. the only thing that some of the people in our group got their food a ittle slowwww. but that's okay, it was a busy night. Good was really good. I had the blackened halibut someone else had the pork chops ... tasty and delicious kinda expensive but what ta heck .. worth the service and atmosphere.

We came here for lunch and my 4-star rating is based on how beautiful the patio is (not so much the food).

We both got salads as we were trying to detox from a gluttonous weekend (I got the Special Greek and my husband got the Roasted Beet), and I would say the food was just OK. Perhaps we should have ordered something different, but the ambiance and service almost made up for the lackluster food.

The Bloody Mary I ordered, on the other hand, was delicious and so was the bread they served.

The atmosphere and service definitely can't be beat...maybe just order something different than we did and you will have a fantastic experience!

Even though we have lived in the bay area for 35 years and visited Sonoma numerous times, we have never eaten at the Swiss Hotel. Timing is probably to blame, but a winery in Kenwood recommended this restaurant for its pizza. We arrived at about 1:30 PM on a Thursday and found easy parking and the restaurant not very crowded. I was originally put off by how many people were smoking at the tables out in front by the sidewalk. Smoke even waifed inside for many, many feet. Thankfully, we were escorted to the back patio where smoking is prohibited. The over-head trellis is planted with grape vines and gives nice shade to the tables. The entire patio was rustic and you could tell this hotel had been here for 4 generations. Our server was very helpful and efficient. The baby greens salad with garlic ranch dressing was so-o-o fresh and pleasing. Our pizza was truly excellent. The crust was thin, but not like paper, not too much tomato sauce, with tasty salami, tiny Kalamata olives, mushrooms, and we added the grilled eggplant that was on another pizza description. The flavors were perfect and the size was more than enough for 2 people (we only ate a half and took the rest home). House wines were fine and very inexpensive. The lobby was decorated with vintage family photographs and SF history photos. All in all, this was a wonderful lunch experience.
