We stayed only one night at the Inn -- wish we could have been there for longer. It was picture-perfect, from the bear on the bed to the helpful service (and wine coupons) from Chapman. The location, just a long block from the plaza, could not be beat. I booked solely on the strength of these reviews, and was not steered wrong. We will be back!

This place really worked well for us. Walking distance to the downtown plaza! The front desk made dinner reservations for us. The room was very nice, the lobby splendid, and the cookies delicious! The inn lent us bikes to for a morning ride. The breakfast is wonderful. Really, everything about The Inn at Sonoma is great.

I can’t say enough good things about the Inn. It might be better described as a boutique hotel that has a very nice breakfast buffet than a B&B, but that is really splitting hairs. We stayed for 4 nights in mid-September. The staff went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable.

The main lobby has a number of comfortable sitting areas as well as 8 or 10 small tables for guests to enjoy the fabulous breakfast buffet. There is also a covered deck off of the lobby with additional tables. The breakfast buffet was very good. Fruit, muffins, toast, bagels, cereal, and every day there was an egg dish (I would call it a breakfast quiche), and either blueberry pancakes or hash browns. Well beyond the generic breakfast buffet you see at many hotels, but not quite the full-service sit-down breakfast of a traditional B&B. I actually preferred this, as the food was excellent and filling, but you weren’t pinned down to a specific time – the buffet was open from 8 until 10am. In the late afternoon there were cheese and crackers and carafes of wine. There was always a fridge with sodas available, and in the afternoon a cookie jar with fabulous fresh-bakes cookies in the lobby.

Upstairs, there is a large second-floor patio divided into two sections. One has a nice hot-tub and a couple of chaise lounges, the other side is a nice outdoor area with 3 or 4 tables we found a great spot to hang out and enjoy a bottle of wine or a casual take-out dinner.

The rooms were very nice – nothing specifically remarkable, but clean, comfortable and in great shape. They have really gone out of their way to make sure the rooms are very quiet. Weatherstripping on the hallway doors so you don't get hallway noise, and the walls must be very well insulated, because we never heard any sounds at all from the neighboring room, and our friends staying at the hotel with us all said the same thing.

We have stayed at many different hotels/inns within the U.S. with some of them being in other cities in California. We "loved" this inn. What made our stay so wonderful were the helpful and kind staff. We asked for guidance before we even arrived and Jane was so helpful. She returned our calls promptly and with all the information that we asked for. Upon our arrival we were greeted warmly and were shown the inn and it's amenities. The cookies and bears were an extra special touch. Especially for our 11 year old son. The breakfast was incredible. We will be back and recommend anyone visiting Sonoma to stay here.

This was the first stop on our honeymoon and it was just perfect -- clean, friendly staff, comfortable bed, convenient walk to Sonoma Plaza, delicious breakfast and happy hour treats, scrumptious cookies in the cookie jar, and yummy chocolates with turndown service. We enjoyed our stay and private balcony very much. They even had put a couple 'Congrats' balloons in our room.

We booked this inn on the strength of all of the reviews on tripadvisor. We were celebrating our third wedding anniversary and wanted to getaway to the wine country. We only stayed for one night but truly enjoyed the experience. The inn is tucked away from the main road by a short drive way and provided the privacy from the busier main road. Our room was lovely with a fireplace although it was too warm to use it during our stay. The breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese were very good. We walked to Sonoma Plaza for dinner which was only a block and a half away. We would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Inn at Sonoma in late August of 2006 for two nights and we couldn't have been any happier!! The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful when we arrived and the property was beautifully maintained. The rooms were very comfortable and very clean. The breakfast and wine/cheese were a nice touch as well. We can't wait to go back!!! Tip for wine lovers: make sure to visit Gundlach-Bunschu. This winery is beautiful and not far from the heart of Sonoma, not to mention great wine. It was one of our favorites in all of wine country.
