“Inn at Sonoma - Perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2009

The Inn at Sonoma was a wonderful inn for our 3 night stay in Sonoma. The Inn is very conveniently situated in Sonoma a few blocks from the square where all the restaurants were. When we arrived, we were greated by a host who explained to us the amenities of the inn and showed us our room. The inn offered a full breakfast, wine and cheese in the afternoons, complimentary soda and coffee throughout the day and free cookies. The room was spacious and included a porch with a table and two chairs. The room had a modern bathroom and was overall very clean. We borrowed their bikes for a bike ride around town one night. They also offered us coupons for local wine tastings in sonoma and napa valley. Overall, great hotel and would recommend to friends!

The reviews for the Inn at Sonoma were so great that my husband and I changed our plans in order to stay there. I don’t get all the fuss. It was fine. Yes, we overlooked the gas station and that didn’t bother us in the least. I liked the fact that we could walk two blocks to the town square and you can’t do that if your hotel is in the middle of a vineyard. The young lady at check in was pleasant, albeit slightly flustered trying to man the phone and us at the same time. Same exact thing occurred at check out, (with a different person). We had a deluxe king with a fireplace and private balcony. I think this is their top room? It could use a little sprucing up. The room was on the small side with an equally small bathroom. The sink was REALLY slow to drain. The television was an old 17in (?) with limited channels. Yep, I really do want to watch TV on vacation. The lighting was bad. We had to open the drapes in order to read the, (complimentary) newspaper. There was a small fridge that actually kept things cold! The breakfast was good, one hot entrée plus breads, juices, fruit etc. We got a great deal, pay for one night get one free. I would have been really disappointed had we paid full rack rate. I have no major complaints but I really thought this was a very average place to stay.

We stayed for the third time at the Inn at Sonoma last week, and as usual, we had a great time. The Inn is a cross between a hotel and a B&B - cozier than a hotel but not as "personal" as a B&B (in the sense that you don't have to interact with fellow guests/innkeepers if you don't feel like it). The room we had this time was a king room with a private patio/balcony, and because it was off season, we got a pretty good deal on it. The room was comfortable and large, as was the bathroom. The breakfasts were good as usual, and the cookies in the cookie jar were a nice touch. The location of this inn is also very convenient, as it is right off the square in Sonoma and within easy access of Napa. It is a bit of a drive to go up to Healdsburg, though, so if you 're going up there, I'd recommend staying closer.

The Inn has all the romance of a B&B with the amenities of a hotel. The Inn is located two blocks from the plaza so you can walk to just about everything. Our room had a fireplace and a patio. The breakfast was amazing and the staff was extremely helpful. We lounged around all morning eating breakfast in bed, watching a movie and enjoying our fireplace. It's a wonderful Inn. By the way, if you do come to Sonoma, make sure that you eat at the Cafe LaHaye. It is worth the trip alone.

Wow - what a perfect place! The rooms are spacious, immaculate, and well appointed. The location is within walking distance of the Plaza and other shopping centers. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and eager to help in any way they can.

The breakfast is absolutely delicious, well prepared and well presented.

When we were there, a couple of the 4:30 wine and cheese events featured pourings from local vineyards and a good deal more than a taste of some of the areas lush wines. They also provide a very nice, laid back, and non commital way to meet the other guests.

We'll definitely be back!

  • Liked — the overall ambiance
  • Disliked — the fact that the rooftop hot tub is not to be used after 9pm :(

A relatively small - but perfectly formed! - Inn in the middle of Sonoma.
We had room 17 which was perfect for us and very well appointed, quiet and with a large balcony looking over the carpark which was no great problem.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful, and being so near to the centre of town we hardly never used the car - there were plenty of things to do within walking distance.
First night wine tasting the "wine" was provided by the hotel. Not sure what it was but the after taste reminded me of the time I was trying to syphon gas from my car and got it wrong. Other nights wines were from local wineries - excellent and sales pitch was not to hard to cope with.
Breakfast is in the lounge - good buffet but not enough tables and chairs.
We really enjoyed our 3 days and would happily go back. Hotel of a high quality and reasonably priced. The whole stay laidback and relaxing. And all in a quite delightful town.

  • Liked — Lovely room and great staff

I stayed at The Inn at Sonoma for 2 nights the first week in October with my boyfriend. It was in a great location, walking distance to the square and restaurants. The breakfast was yummy, we loved the egg dish each morning! The front desk was able to get us a reservation at the Girl and the Fig at the last minute and we had the best meal of our trip there. We would definitely stay there again.
