This place was great! It’s one block south of the center plaza/ park, which allows for all restaurants, bars, and in-town wine tastings to be within walking distance.
The free parking lot is ample and sufficient. The lobby was spacious and welcoming with plenty of seating, a fireplace, and a chess set. The rooms are cozy and charming with personal touches: our basic room came with a private outdoor patio, an indoor fireplace, and a number of other underappreciated amenities.
The day we were there, Gundlach Bundschu sponsored the wine and cheese happy hour, which was great since we are fans of the winery.
However, on a more personal note, the service may be the best thing about Inn at Sonoma: even though we arrived a few hours early we were allowed to check-in, the staff bakes homemade cookies for the guests, every night there is turndown service, and a complimentary breakfast awaits you in the morning. Jane at the front desk deserves special mention: not only did she explain the perks of the Inn, briefly map out the layout of Sonoma, and give us 2-for-1 tastings at some of the wineries, but when she found out that we’d be leaving at 5:30am and would be missing breakfast, she prepared a bag of fresh fruit s and muffins so that we wouldn’t travel on an empty stomach. Class A Service.
I would absolutely recommend this place to a friend.More
