Owner description: Ram's Gate Winery embodies the convergence of great wine, design and hospitality. Situated at the historic gateway to the Carneros region, Ram's Gate was created with the belief that in a world obsessed with making things faster, where speed is valued above all else, a delicious wine is the way to press pause - to savor and enjoy what we love most. Amidst sweeping views of the surrounding vineyards, we offer a portfolio of estate and single vineyard wines made from the grapes of the region's marquee vineyards. Open Thursdays-Mondays, 11am-6pm by Appointment

The welcome is warm and the decor airy and modern. Very impressive. We were invited to choose our 'flight' ( very reasonably priced wine tasting) and were invited to stroll at leisure with our glasses and we chose to sit by the lake and soak up some Spring sunshine. The wine was superb; atmosphere relaxed and a perfect Sunday lunchtime.

We tride a 2010 Chardonnay which was crisp and fresh; a 2011 Pinot Noir and an excellent 2010 Syrah Durell for the paultry sum of $10 in a stunning and unhurried location. Fabulous value, and your $10 is refunded against wine purchases.

You absolutely must do their picnic/pond experience - totally worth every penny! They send you down to their private pond with a picnic basket chock full of goodies and a bottle of wine. You can sit and relax for hours on end.

This used to be Roche winery, on it's obvious perch as gateway to Sonoma and Napa wine country.... just off the junction of the 37 and 121, it's hard to miss... just after Sears Point. They have razed the old winery to the ground, and built what is perhaps the most stunning winery in all of Napa & Sonoma.

This winery's location is such that you don't need to scream "me me me" like other wineries, and the Sonoma based ownership has done a phenomenal job treating the land, & rebuilt winery, with great respect. The architecure is amazing - modern & stylishly contemporary, but it's classic, chateau design is exciting and welcome, a beautiful blended homage. The stunning grounds are balanced, and understated... something desperately needed for the gaudy wineries around the area and further north. No theme park rides, no superfluous art shows and silly sculptures... just stunning architecture all oriented and purposed towards making and celebrating stunning wine.

Not sure it matters, but for info and tasting deals you can hit their social stuff.. it worked for me.

It wasn't until after we had been to several wineries over two days that we knew for sure our first opinion of Ram's Gate was the correct one. The atmosphere is very enjoyable, both inside and out. The person who explained the wines to us at our tasting was extremely knowledgeable.
The wines themselves were some of the best wines we tasted. The fee for tasting was very reasonable (especially when you compare the price to some in Napa Valley). And we liked the idea that you didn't need an appointment. You will not be disappointed if you decide to stop here.

The food and wine tasting experience at Rams Gate was excellent. We actually had roasted Lamb with one of our red wine tastings. Best pairings of all the Sonoma and Napa wineries we had visited. After completing our tastings we were told we could enjoy additional wines in large comfortable chairs, outside, facing the vinyard. With the bright sunny day, the view and the wonderfull wine, it realy was hard to leave. Don't miss Rams Gate!
