Loved the cheeses! Very gracious about giving samples. Dry jack cheeses are a special treat and worth tasting. Priced reasonably. Nothing much else in the shop.

The Vella Cheese Company is in an old and beautiful stone building. It is just a short walk from the Square. Their cheeses are delicious and very reasonably priced. We tasted a few and of course bought some to take home. Shipping is also available.

We bought cheese at Vella to have with wines purchased in the Sonoma Valley/Dry Creek area. Their Jacks are what this company is all about. They sell a new Jack, one about a year old and then the jewel, a 3 year old jack which seems like a chrystaline aged gouda or cheddar. All are delicious in their own characterful way. They also make a "toma" not the creamy soft super rich Italian version, but very good non-the-less. A couple other cheeses are available (not made by Vella) but reasonably good including a tasty blue. The shop also sells olives and crackers. This is a local alternative to the cheese shop on Sonoma Square itself - which has a much more wide ranging selection
of cheeses as well as other gourmet treats.

This is by far the best pepper jack I have ever tasted. Not the dry type jack we have grown accustomed to, this jack is smooth and creamy with plenty of HEAT. Great habenero flavor

My daughter wanted a cheese similar to aged gouda and we found a cheese here that they make very close to it. I would say a bit pricey, but very well worth it.
