“Mmm Beer!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 7, 2013

I can't speak for the food (already ate when I got there) but the beer menu is really great. We sampled a number of them and they had some pretty unusual beers I wasn't familiar with before.

We sat at the bar, chatted with the bartender, enjoyed a live musician play and generally had a nice nite.

“Fantastic food & drinks in Novato!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 21, 2012

We went to the new Hopmonk Tavern in Novato. It's only been open for a month, and it was packed. My husband loved the beer, and I loved the moscow mule and ginger drop. The sliders and calamari were a delicious start. We tried a bit of everything with family/friends. The chicken pomegranate salad was fresh and tasty. My husband loved the authentic jambalaya with okra, but ask for tabasco sauce if you want it spicier. The ample fish and chips and muscles were great, and the fries were just right, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. My favorite was something called cheese cake, a yummy naan sandwich with the best tomato soup I've ever had! The only bad thing....there is no Hopmonk Tavern in Portland, OR!

“Love the (REALLY) extensive beer menu, love the specialty cocktails.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 20, 2012

Love the (REALLY) extensive beer menu, love the specialty cocktails. I could eat the butternut squash and brie salad for days. We also got the pumpkin soup, but it was a little thick, and a little cold. It came with some bread and butter, which was a nice touch, but I'd probably get a different soup or something next time.

One thing was that our server forgot to put ALL of our alcohol on the tab. When we told her about the issue, she thanked us and went to fix it. The thing, though, is that for parties of six or more, 18% gratuity is added automatically, which seemed unfair for something that we were going out of our way to make sure we paid for. We asked if we could choose our gratuity for the alcohol, which came on a separate check, and the waitress said she'd see, but couldn't guarantee anything.

In the end, we did get to choose our gratuity for the drinks, no problem. Can't hold a grudge there. Just something worth noting!

“Great stop after a day on the road”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2012

We had been here before with some friends who live in the area and decided to stop in for a late dinner Friday night after driving up from Santa Ynez.

Live music, good food and good beer made for a nice stop right before getting to our destination. Definitely worth the stop. Highly recommended.
