Owner description: Bordered by several gourmet shops, this pretty town square is a perfect place for a picnic.

Fun to window shop around the plaza even though all the shops close by 6 so get there during the day if you want to go inside. Sonoma has some great places to eat, taste wines beer and whiskey, get some sweets and just get out and walk.

Perfect for a little shopping, some wine/chocolate/cheese tasting and an afternoon stroll in the beautiful Sonoma weather!

This is a beautiful plaza in center of Sonoma. Check out the California spot where the California Republic began. See the statute. There is a library and I think a museum there but we did not have time to go visit. Nice place to grab a sandwich and just picnic.

Sonoma Valley is awesome! So much to do and taste, its a wonderland for adults. Sonoma itself? Not so much. Its a spread out town and does not have critical mass to attract a variety of businesses. The square itself really does not have that much to choose from for dining and drinking, not for a city that is in the capital of wine country. Not great for kids, either. Try renting a bike for a family and you will be disappointed.

Sonoma boasts one of the largest plazas in the US. Not only is a fabulous spot for families, singles or couples, it is FULL OF HISTORY!!! Visit the Depot Park Museum, the historic Toscano Hotel, the Sonoma Mission, the Blue Wing Inn, to name just a few. Watch your little ones frolic in 2 playgrounds, and photograph them feeding the Plaza ducks in the peaceful pond. Taste excellent wines. Ride a trolley. Sample cheese. Sip coffees, munch on our famous sourdough bread from Basque Boulangerie, or enjoy the incredibly popular Tuesday Night Market, featuring live music, produce and food vendors.
