“Fabulous Find”

We stayed in MacArthur Place in September with a group of friends whilst travelling around California, Nevada and Arizona. We stayed in the Elm Lodge and the rooms were the best we had on our holiday. All the lodges were centred around an amazing pool, hot tub and gym/spa. The gardens were really well kept and there were plenty of outside seating areas to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The room and bathroom were both spacious and clean. Each night we had our beds turned down and the blinds drawn. A chocolate and update on the weather forecast for the next day was left on your pillow. We ate in Saddles restaurant and the food was very good. It was a tad expensive and the menu did not offer much choice for vegetarians. Breakfast was continental with yoghurt and fresh fruit. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who is staying in the valley.
If you are planning to go into the centre of Sonoma it is a good 15 minute walk.

We stayed at the MacArthur Place in Sonoma August 2012. The cottage was the nicest we/ve stayed in. The grounds were beautiful. The staff were very helpful. It was a fantastic "hidden" gem. We loved it.

Room Tip: Pick a room overlooking the gardens

I travel so much on business that I don't normally bother writing reviews, but I was so impressed by MacArthur Place that I feel compelled to comment. Our room was without doubt the nicest hotel room that I have ever stayed in while in the US. It made such a refreshing change to the bland, soulless corporate hotels that I normally stay in. We absolutely loved it!

My husband and I spent three nights at MacArthur Place while celebrating our anniversary in Sonoma. What a treat! Everything was exceptional from the service to the complimentary breakfast served each morning at the on-site restaurant Saddles. We mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary at check-in and they gave us a free room upgrade and treated us to a bottle of champagne in our room. The room was well-appointed, clean, spacious and comfortable. The amenities were modern & convenient. Th grounds were beautifully maintained and the staff was extremely accommodating, offering assistance and helpful recommendations. The complimentary wine & cheese offered each afternoon in the library was well-done and well-attended. Romantic and well-suited for couples/adults. We would definitely return and would recommend this hotel over the Fairmont, where we spent our last two nights.

we would have loved to have spent more time in this perfectly appointed room! Lots of space, well lit rooms, surround sound tv and dockstation, whirlpool tub and huge shower, cozy private patio with outdoor shower and fountain. With so many wineries to visit and resturants to try, our room time was really sleep and shower time. The king bed was comfy with luxiourios soft sheets. The grounds of this hotel were beautiful, native plants, beautiful flowers every where.Short walks around the property gave many surprising little retreats for sitting, board games or just bird watching. Our front porch was a perfect place to enjoy a bottle of wine every evening. Delicious breakfast and courteous staff. We had room 44 our friend had 42 and 46 everyone loved the property. We highly recommened this for Sonoma.

Room Tip: we did not experience street/traffic noise but over heard another guest that did - request room away...

I absolutely loved this beautiful place! I stayed there on a girls-away trip and couldn't have been happier. The gardens and resort feel so secluded yet you are still minutes from downtown. Saddles had amazing food, the spa had incredible staff, and our huge suite room was newly renovated and simply gorgeous. The hotel staff was so friendly and helpful - I can't wait to go back!

Beautiful grounds, clean and cute room, excellent continental breakfast, helpful, knowledgable, friendly staff, nice wine and cheese reception. Our stay was great, and the only thing that even can be considered a critique is that there weren't any of the extras that I have kind of gotten accustomed to at the nicer hotels/inns. I usually am not a fan of continental breakfasts, but their's was excellent! I would recommend MacArthur Place!
