You dont have to make a reservation if you just want to wine taste, but you do if you want the tour. We tried making a reservation the day of, and there was nothing so it seemed like we missed out. At the time we went it seemed to get busier and busier and not as many wine pourers. California's oldest premium winery. A lot of history and fun quotes along the entrance to the winery. You will also see a small maze before you get to the winery. The wines were okay, but not within my preferred price range for them. Giving it a four for the history, otherwise probably a 3.

Little more layed back then the other wineries. You can purchase your own cheese and crackers from the fridge and sit outside on picnic tables. Beautiful old stone buildings and great wine! Many visitors bring their own "lunch" and enjoy it there.

We aren't wine drinkers but when in Rome do as the Romans do. Being in the area we had to spend an afternoon in Sonoma and chose this beautiful lovely Winery. First the grounds were beautiful. Our Hostess was very knowledgeable. We had fun tasting various wines. We were disappointed that there was not food to select but we know that is not the norm even though our favorite Winery in New Jersey does offer cheese platters. So if you visit Sonoma and want to visit only one why during this is the place to visit. We actually left with two bottles of wine.

You can do a lot of wine tasting in the Sonama valley but for really good wines, beautiful scenery and an historical site, this is one of the best.
Brandon, our host, was knowledgeable, fun and good value for money. We bought 2 exceptional wines and loved the experience.
Thanks Brandon!

I was initially sceptical about this place, with so many staff in fancy dress outfits, and it looked a little bit like a theme park at first. Despite this, the nice guy behind the bar from Moldova - Vas - was extremely friendly, knowledgeable about the wine and had a good sense of humour. He let us try a few different wines without sticking to a rigid tasting script as so many around the Sonoma region had done already. One of the best wineries I visited on our trip.

This was the first stop on a wine tour we did in Sonoma. Lovely property and interesting history. Nice wine, but very popular on the tourist trail.

The property is very nice but it seemed overwhelmingly touristy. Our server at the bar was very pushy so didn't enjoy it too much. It was nice to see, the wine was good but don't think we would go back.

We visited last year and came back for more this year. We purchased a bottle of the Count's Revenge with nothing but a "crocodile" on the bottle last year even though we couldn't taste it. Nine months or so later we opened the bottle a little nervous not knowing what to expect, but it was fabulous! We loved it which drove us to visit the winery again this year to purchase more Count's Revenge! The wine host was very helpful and knowledgeable and customized our tasting to wines we would like. A beautiful and interesting winery!

As the "Count" will explain to you, Buena Vista, Sonoma and, in fact, California premium wines were the brainchild of self made Hungarian Count Haraszthy. The facility is one-of-a-kind; an incredible blend of old world charm and kitschy decor with a large beautiful estate as their backdrop. The wine tour is pure entertainment as the "re-incarnated" Count takes you through over 150 years of history & wine making. This is big scale entertainment, the Disney version of vintners and vineyards. A very real scare last year though when the California fires came right up to the back wall of their facilities and they fought it off with some strategic fire fighting. The wines are very good too but come here for the entertainment value!
