“Three cheers for "The Count"”
Reviewed June 1, 2013

My Dad and I made our first stop in the valley at Buena Vista, and it was worth it! We met "The Count" Aka George he was a wealth of knowledge about the winery's history, he gave us a private tour around the cellars and was the nicest guide around! He it the winery's largest asset no doubt about it, if you are in the area go check them out and strike up conversation with The Count he will treat you well!

“BARREL TOUR AND TASTING”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

We had a great time during a recent visit to Buena Vista our tour guide Vasile was amazing. His knowledge and passion for the the winery and wine in general made for an excellent tour. The grounds are great and getting a change to tour the caves and taste wine for the barrel was a unique experience!

“Go because it's beautiful & historic, but no clue about the wine”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

Admittedly, we didn't get to tour the infamously beautiful cellars because they are closed for renovation, and also, I expected ivy: a lot of ivy. The building is lovely, although I didn't find the grounds particularly welcoming, although the historical facet of the Count and his wine legacy are intriguing. But where did all of that stunning ivy go? Also, after a ten minute wait to taste something and watching the hospitality yuk it up with other folks, I stopped trying to taste the wine and just sort of milled around some more. Really, it wasn't that busy, and I was ready to try-and-buy. But it's undeniably a must-see, it bears a fantastic history, the stories of the Count are intriguing, and maybe sometime I will find out if the wine is any good. Hint: lots of tourists. Lots.

“Our favorite winery”
Reviewed May 8, 2013

We have been to Buena Vista Winery twice and felt like home every time we were there. The fireplace with the comfortable chairs look so inviting to sip a glass of wine. Jim was our server this time and he was by far our favorite. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the winery and also about the wines. We did a tasting and he told us what food would go with each wine. We had been to several wineries prior to coming here and so it was about 4:30 when we arrived. They do close at 5:00. Jim seemed as energetic to talk about wine as if it was his first hour of working. We were given a nice discount on wines when we had them shipped to Minnesota. We have a case shipped in February and it takes less than 2 weeks and the bottles are very carefully packaged. The winery is off the beaten path and you need to follow the signs but it is well worth your time to go to the oldest winery. We will be back!

“Great 1st wine tasting”
Reviewed May 4, 2013

We happened upon this by accident while looking through a brochure. They require 48 hour reservations, which we didn't have, but we thought we would call. They happened to have a cancelation and fit us in. We did the cave tour and barrel tasting which was awesome. Our guide was very knowledgable friendly and answered all our questions.
