Need I say more? Go see the wonderful show, bring a picnic, taste and buy some wonderful wine! 12 performances in August. A fantastic time of year to visit Sonoma and this historic winery!

Buena Vista Winery last night hosted the Avalon Players 32nd season of Shakespeare under the Stars. ( running through aug 26). The play was magnificent and thoroughly entertaining for all ages. The acting and direction was superb! Used last ight as a dressing room, the newly reopened hand- chilsed champagne cellars were magically cool-temperatured and full of history - like stepping back in time. Wine was available for purchase during show. If looking for a very special one of a kind Sonoma nightlife experience, you have found it!!

The cost of the tasting was higher than expected and the choices limited especially in view of the major construction of the facility which impedes the access to the winery. But the most upsetting was the misleading offering by one of the salesperson who claimed that she was giving us a taste of a cabernet from the winery. The tasting was quite good and we bought 2 bottles which were wrapped up for us. When we returned home and unwrapped the bottles the label was listed as "Founder's red wine" No mention of the cabernet sauvignon which the salesperson Millie had. claimed. We have visited wineries over the past decades here in California and in France and Germany. This is the first incident we have encountered with such blatant misinformation by a sales rep. Shameful for such a well known and establ!ished enterprise. Never again

So we arrive and find the place slammed. We proceed to meander into the Club Room and are told it's for members only. The staff, being as cool as they were, told us that since the balance of the facility is busy, we can hang with them. Two hours later we were Club members, bought some wine and made a couple of new friends. A little challenging to find, and currently under renovation, but worth it.
